Mechanic – Surface & Underground Diamond Drilling

Foraco Canada Ltd., a leading international drilling services provider serving the Canadian mineral exploration market, is seeking skilled and motivated Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanics to join our team in Kamloops.

Location

  • This position is the Kamloops shop but may require travel to our field location as required. (Permanent Full Time)
  • Hours- Monday to Friday 7:30am- 4pm with occasion weekends as required.

Key Responsibilities

Working closely with the Shop Team, Operations Team and on-site Operations, the Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and undertaking repairs of a broad range of hydraulic, electrical, diesel and gas-powered equipment and rolling stock in the field. The primary goal is to ensure that equipment is available, reliable, and safe to operate. Daily responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Inspecting equipment to ensure proper performance and identifying faults or malfunctions.
  • Diagnosing mechanical issues and determining the scope of required repairs.
  • Adjusting, repairing, or replacing defective components, parts, or systems using hand and power tools.
  • Testing repaired equipment to confirm performance meets safety and regulatory standards.
  • Performing preventive maintenance, lubrication, and routine servicing of equipment.
  • Servicing and maintaining specialized drilling attachments and components.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Always adhering to Foraco and client safety standards.

Qualifications & Training Requirements

  • Mandatory Certifications:
  • WHMIS 2015.
  • Isolation Theory Training.
  • Working at Heights.
  • Valid First Aid & CPR.
  • Crane/Rigging Training.
  • Training can be provided to qualified candidates.
  • Education & Experience:
  • Completion of a 3–5 year apprenticeship program with trade certification.
  • Heavy Equipment Mechanics Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working underground in a mining environment.
  • Heavy Equipment and Construction training (asset).

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass pre-access medical, drug and alcohol testing.
  • Clear criminal record check.
  • Experience on Drilling Equipment is considered and asset.
  • Red Seal Mechanical Certification is considered and asset.
