Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Supervisor

Reports To: Ultrasound Manager

Location: 600 Crowfoot Crescent NW #350, Calgary, AB T3G 4A9

Position: Full-time, Permanent

About Pureform:

Pureform Radiology is a specialized diagnostic imaging provider offering community-focused services across Calgary and Airdrie, including X-ray, Ultrasound, Mammography, Bone Density Testing, Pain Management (including Fluoroscopy- and Ultrasound-guided injections at select locations), and Biopsies. Through our PureKids division, we also provide imaging services designed specifically for pediatric patients and their families.

Supported by a team of more than fourteen Radiologists across subspecialties including Musculoskeletal, Interventional Radiology, and Breast Imaging, we believe exceptional patient care starts with an exceptional team one built on ongoing education, mentorship, and real opportunities for growth.

Position Overview:

The Sonographer Supervisor leads a team of Ultrasound Technicians while delivering exceptional, compassionate patient care. You'll perform and communicate diagnostic exam results to Radiologists, uphold the highest standard of medical ethics, and champion continuous learning within the team.

We're looking for an exceptional leader with a passion for mentoring skilled technicians — someone adaptable who builds strong relationships across departments and fosters open communication, collaboration, and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and coach the ultrasound team, providing guidance and constructive feedback to promote a positive, professional work environment.
  • Organize and lead regular team meetings, keeping the team informed through consistent updates and open communication.
  • Oversee daily Sonographer tasks, including scans, workflow, and training on new techniques and equipment.
  • Facilitate onboarding and training for new hires, new graduates, and practicum students.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks and image audits to ensure exams meet clinical and organizational standards.
  • Oversee equipment operations, quality control, and coordination of maintenance or repairs as needed.
  • Manage daily departmental operations, including staff scheduling, attendance, and timesheet oversight.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Graduate of a recognized Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, with 2+ years of experience.
  • Active certification and good standing with Sonography Canada, with current Professional Liability Insurance.
  • Ability to perform a wide range of sonographic exams; Breast, MSK, and Pediatric experience an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and coaching skills, with comfort in Windows-based programs.
  • Proficiency in English required, as all work is conducted in English.

Leadership

  • Prior experience as an Ultrasound Supervisor, or management/leadership coursework, considered an asset.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a diverse team, adapting to shifting priorities.
  • Comfortable implementing new protocols, delivering honest feedback, and having difficult conversations.

What We Offer

  • Flexible scheduling to support work-life balance.
  • Competitive pay plus a supervisor premium and skills-based pay progression.
  • Extended health and dental, plus a Group RRSP matching program.
  • Generous yearly education allowance and paid education days.
  • Team-building activities and celebrations throughout the year.

Requirements

  • Reliable transportation across clinic locations.
  • Weekday availability as required, with Saturday shifts also available.
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions.
