Full job description
We are seeking a highly qualified Clinical Counselor to join our team. The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications
Responsibilities:
- Assessment and Diagnosis:
- Conduct thorough assessments to understand clients' mental health, emotional well-being, and personal circumstances.
- Formulate accurate diagnoses based on recognized diagnostic criteria.
- Individualized Treatment Planning:
- Develop personalized treatment plans that address clients' unique needs and goals.
- Collaborate with clients to set realistic and achievable objectives for therapy.
- Counselling and Psychotherapy:
- Provide individual, group, or family counseling sessions to help clients explore and address their emotional and psychological challenges.
- Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions and modalities.
- Crisis Intervention:
- Offer immediate support and intervention in crisis situations, such as suicidal ideation or acute mental health crises.
- Develop safety plans to manage potential risks.
- Client Education:
- Educate clients about mental health issues, coping strategies, and self-care techniques.
- Foster awareness and understanding of mental health conditions and treatment options.
- Empathy and Support:
- Establish a therapeutic alliance built on trust, empathy, and rapport.
- Provide emotional support and validation to clients as they navigate their challenges.
- Advocacy and Referrals:
- Advocate for clients' needs within the healthcare system or other relevant institutions.
- Make referrals to other professionals or services when necessary, such as psychiatrists, support groups, or social services.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and any other relevant documentation.
- Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Ethical Practice:
- Adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards established by relevant counseling organizations.
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy while balancing the need for client safety.
- Professional Development:
- Stay informed about current research, therapeutic techniques, and developments in the field.
- Pursue ongoing training and professional development to enhance counselling skills and knowledge.
- Cultural Competence:
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and awareness in working with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Tailor therapeutic approaches to consider the cultural context of the client.
Requirements:
- A minimum requirement of a master's degree or higher in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field is mandated. Additionally, candidates must be a registered psychologist or clinical counselor to be considered for the position. Some roles may specify a particular specialization, such as marriage and family therapy or addiction counselling.
