We are Play Hockey. Hockey is our passion, and we love helping young players reach their full potential. Our veteran team of professionals delivers camps, clinics, leagues, teams, tournaments, and international tours to markets across North America. Play Hockey is seeking a Business Analyst to add to our Information Technology team. The successful candidate will have strong time management skills, the ability to work in a team setting as well as individually.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, refine, and prioritize business requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Analyzes the feasibility of, and develops requirements for, new systems and enhancements to existing systems; ensures the system design fits the needs of the Users
  • Writes detailed universally understood procedures for permanent records and for use in training
  • Facilitate discussions, workshops, and meetings to resolve issues and make informed decisions
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including user manuals, process flows, and system diagrams
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and issues that may impact the successful delivery of software solutions
  • Proactively address potential roadblocks
  • Work with the technical team to get IT estimates when required
  • Verify that developed software meets the defined acceptance criteria and business requirements
  • Conducts change impact analysis to assess the potential implications of changes and documents business requirements
  • Prepares reports and written findings and recommendations; and monitors changes
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, development teams to define test strategies, develop test plans, execute test plans and oversee the testing phase to deliver high-quality software products
  • Participates in user acceptance testing and testing of new system functionality
  • Develops training curriculum and conducts formal training sessions
  • Facilitates or participates in studies of new and existing programs and special projects to determine feasibility, resolve problems including organizational, procedural and technical
  • Develops policy and procedures to improve efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and/or improve internal and external customer service; develops information system documentation to support efficient operations
  • Provides work direction to technical staff or acts as a team lead on designated projects or assignments
  • Other duties as assigned

What you need to be successful:

  • Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Business Analysis related field or equivalent experience
  • 5 plus years experience in business analysis, systems analysis, or a similar IT delivery role
  • Experience working in an IT environment with complex Business Applications or enterprise technology environment
  • 5 plus years proven experience gathering, analyzing, validating, and documenting business, functional, technical, data, reporting, and operational requirements
  • 5 plus years experience developing current-state and future-state process maps, workflows, use cases, acceptance criteria, data-flow summaries, and system-impact documentation
  • Experience supporting the full project and systems delivery lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements definition, design support, testing, implementation, transition-to-operations, and post-implementation support
  • Ability to work independently on moderate to complex initiatives, manage multiple priorities, identify risks and dependencies, and escalate issues appropriately
  • Experience working with e-commerce systems, enterprise business applications, or complex application environments
  • CCBA, ECBA, or equivalent business analysis certification or training
  • Intermediate Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 skills
  • Strong communication, and facilitation skills, with the ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Excellent documentation skills, with strong attention to detail, version control, and traceability
