The Opportunity

Fowler Construction is seeking an experienced IT Operations Specialist to support and enhance our organization's technology infrastructure and operations. Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, you will play a key role in maintaining reliable and secure IT systems while providing advanced technical support across the organization.

In this role, you will be responsible for systems administration, network and endpoint management, cybersecurity support, IT asset management, and operational improvement initiatives. You will work closely with employees, vendors, and leadership to ensure technology services remain secure, efficient, and aligned with business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure & Systems
  • Administer and maintain network infrastructure, VPN connectivity, switches, and firewall systems.
  • Support and maintain on-premise servers and internal services.
  • Monitor system health, uptime, backups, and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Maintain Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, and endpoint configurations.
  • Manage endpoint deployment, automation, patch management, and system updates.

Cybersecurity & Access Management

  • Administer user accounts, permissions, multi-factor authentication (MFA), identity access, and software licensing.
  • Support endpoint protection platforms and cybersecurity response activities.
  • Monitor and respond to security alerts, incidents, and suspicious activity.
  • Assist with cybersecurity policy implementation, auditing, compliance activities, and remediation efforts.
  • Ensure security best practices and least-privilege access standards are maintained.

IT Operations & Service Delivery

  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support and assist with escalated issues as required.
  • Develop and improve IT service management processes, ticketing workflows, and documentation standards.
  • Maintain IT asset inventories and lifecycle tracking records.
  • Manage software licensing, subscriptions, and renewals.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and operational improvements.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and knowledge resources.
  • Coordinate with vendors and external service providers to resolve issues and implement solutions.
  • Support technology projects and business initiatives across the organization.
  • Provide end-user training and guidance as required.

Key Skills

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in IT systems administration, infrastructure support, or a similar technical role.
  • Experience supporting Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, and endpoint management solutions.
  • Experience managing network infrastructure, firewalls, VPNs, and related security technologies.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 environments and enterprise applications.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, endpoint protection platforms, and access management practices.
  • Experience with patch management, system monitoring, asset management, and IT service management processes.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to support both technical and non-technical users.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license.

Work Conditions

  • Based out of our head office in Bracebridge, Ontario, and on-site as required (this position is not remote or hybrid).
  • Travel to various sites may be required.
  • Weekend and evening work may be required from time to time to support operational needs, system maintenance, or project implementation.
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform equipment set up activities.
