Job Description

The Project Information Technology Specialist is responsible for supporting and administering the project computing environment throughout project mobilization, construction, commissioning, and turnover activities. The role serves as the primary site IT resource and works closely with the Home Office Project Information Management (PIM) Lead, Global IT teams, project stakeholders, and third-party vendors to ensure reliable delivery of technology services, communications infrastructure, end-user computing, collaboration platforms, and digital project systems.

INITIAL HOME OFFICE ASSIGNMENT

The successful candidate will initially be assigned to the Calgary Home Office for approximately six months prior to site mobilization. During this period, the candidate will learn project-specific work processes, procedures, systems, and digital execution requirements; support onboarding and technology enablement of project personnel; work closely with the Project Information Management Lead; coordinate with Global IT teams to define site technology and communications infrastructure requirements; and support procurement, configuration, deployment planning, and asset tracking of project IT equipment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide first-line technical support for hardware, software, network connectivity, mobile devices, printers, and collaboration tools.
  • Deploy, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, and peripheral devices.
  • Perform install, move, add, and change (IMAC) activities and re-image returned devices for redeployment.
  • Support Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and project-specific applications.
  • Configure and support Android and iOS mobile devices, including corporate email and collaboration tools.
  • Submit and coordinate user access requests with Corporate IT organizations.
  • Provision guest accounts and support approved Active Directory security group assignments.
  • Support communications and IoT technologies including radios, tablets, satellite phones, and connected field devices.
  • Act as local hands-and-feet support for Global IT teams, including Infrastructure, Platform Services, Service Delivery, and Cybersecurity organizations.
  • Escalate issues to the Enterprise Help Desk and specialized IT teams as required.
  • Work closely with the Home Office PIM Lead to support project information systems, document management, digital execution initiatives, and information governance requirements.
  • Assist with deployment and support of project collaboration platforms, digital field solutions, and turnover systems.
  • Maintain inventories and lifecycle management records for laptops, desktops, mobile devices, printers, communications equipment, and related technology assets.
  • Create and maintain user guides, quick reference materials, technology procedures, and user communications.
  • Coordinate infrastructure planning, telecommunications, networking, hardware procurement, site mobilization, and technology readiness activities.
  • Deliver IT services in a professional, customer-focused, and efficient manner while maintaining effective communication with project leadership and project personnel.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports functionally to the Project Information Management Lead and collaborates closely with Global IT teams, Project Services, Construction Management, vendors, and Construction leadership.

Basic Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Post-secondary certificate, diploma, or degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline preferred. 4 to 7 years of experience supporting end-user computing environments and desktop technologies.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Experience supporting Microsoft Windows desktop and laptop environments, Microsoft 365 applications, Android and iOS mobile devices, Active Directory, basic networking, wireless connectivity, web browsers, printers, scanners, and peripheral devices. Strong troubleshooting, customer service, and communication skills are required.

WORK LOCATION

This position will begin in the Calgary Home Office during project mobilization and transition to the project construction site upon mobilization. Travel may be required during startup, construction, commissioning, and project closeout activities.

Salary is based upon experience.

The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
