Shifts:
Monday - Friday 8:00 am start

Successful candidate must have valid Class 3 or 5 license, current abstract with no more than 4 demerits and 2 years city experience.
Must have strong knowledge of the city and surrounding areas

The successful Candidate will:

  • Operate 5 tonne trucks to transport items such as animal feed, industrial equipment, chemicals, drilling supplies, dry food, etc., to customers within or short distances outside city limits.
  • Successfully work with power tailgate and pallet jacks
  • Occasional dock/yard work may be required on an as-need basis

Work Performed

  • Perform routine pre-trip inspections and adjustments of brakes, tires, lights, horns, etc. as per Schedule 1. Lift truck hood to check fluids levels.
  • Perform emergency, minor and preventative maintenance repairs. Report damage to maintenance department.
  • Control operation of vehicle and equipment as trained and licensed
  • Operate two-way radios, PDA’s and cell phones for communication with dispatch, complying with applicable laws for communication devices.
  • Meet schedules and deadlines and drive in all weather, traffic and road conditions
  • Communicate with customers.
  • Ensure all documentation is completed correctly on BOL’s and probills.
  • Ensure the correct procedure if followed for arriving and departing stops on the MC75 PDA.
  • Assist with unloading and loading trucks.
  • Accurately count freight, noting cube as required.
  • Chain or strap loads. Check load securement as required, tighten straps and chains as needed.
  • Hook/unhook trailers.
  • Keep accurate drivers’ logs as required to document mileage, hours and material hauled
  • Wearing of job specific PPE clothing, masks, glasses or visors
  • Keep vehicles clean inside and out
  • Attach chains to tires when required
  • Comply with National Safety Code and Provincial Highway / Traffic regulations
  • Comply with Transportation of Dangerous Goods Clear Language regulations
  • Comply with highway weigh scale procedures as directed by transportation officials
  • Observe all company rules, policies and procedures with regards to quality control, Occupational Health and Safety, etc.
  • Advise dispatch of all incidents and injuries immediately.
  • Perform sundry duties as assigned by the Terminal Manager, dispatch or superior.

Preference for local candidates only. There is no relocation assistance provided for this role. This role does not qualify for an LMO under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program or Rural Stream program
