Full job description

We are looking for enthusiastic, team players to deliver packages in and around Timmins, ON area. The Combined Urban Services (CUS) Delivery Driver is responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely delivery and collection of parcels, mail, and other Canada Post products within assigned urban delivery routes. The driver represents both NovaXpress and Canada Post by providing exceptional customer service while maintaining compliance with all Canada Post operational, security, and safety requirements.

The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, safe driving practices, and proficiency in mobile technology used for route management, proof of delivery, and fleet monitoring.

# Key Responsibilities

## Delivery Operations

* Complete assigned Canada Post delivery routes safely and efficiently.

* Deliver parcels, mail, registered items, signature-required shipments, and other Canada Post products.

* Pick up outgoing parcels and mail from customers, businesses, and designated collection points.

* Ensure all deliveries and pickups are completed within established service standards.

* Obtain customer signatures where required.

* Verify customer identity when delivering accountable items.

* Handle undeliverable items in accordance with Canada Post procedures.

## Shipment Management

* Use Canada Post-approved handheld devices and mobile applications to:

* Scan shipments

* Record delivery events

* Capture signatures

* Update shipment status

* Report delivery exceptions

* Ensure all shipment information is accurate and updated in real time.

* Report damaged, missing, or misrouted shipments immediately.

## Vehicle Operations

* Safely operate company vehicles in accordance with all traffic laws and company policies.

* Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.

* Report vehicle defects or maintenance concerns immediately.

* Keep vehicles clean, organized, and secure.

* Ensure parcels and mail are properly secured during transportation.

## Fleet Management (Samsara)

* Operate the **Samsara Driver App** throughout the workday.

* Complete electronic Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs).

* Follow assigned routes and navigation tools.

* Maintain accurate Hours of Service (where applicable).

* Comply with company safety standards monitored through Samsara.

## Customer Service

* Provide courteous and professional service to customers at all times.

* Represent NovaXpress and Canada Post in a positive manner.

* Respond professionally to customer inquiries and direct customers to appropriate Canada Post channels when required.

* Maintain confidentiality of customer information and mail contents.

## Safety & Security

* Comply with all Canada Post security requirements and handling procedures.

* Protect the integrity and confidentiality of mail and parcels.

* Follow all workplace health and safety policies.

* Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

* Immediately report accidents, injuries, security incidents, damaged shipments, or unsafe conditions.

* Safeguard company equipment, handheld devices, keys, and Canada Post property.

# Qualifications

## Required

* Valid Ontario G-Class Driver's Licence (or higher if required).

* Clean driver's abstract.

* Ability to successfully obtain and maintain Canada Post Security Clearance.

* Excellent attendance and reliability.

* Strong communication and customer service skills.

* Comfortable using smartphones, handheld scanners, and mobile applications.

* Ability to work independently while meeting strict delivery deadlines.

## Preferred

* Previous courier, parcel delivery, or Canada Post experience.

* Experience operating handheld scanning devices.

* Experience using Samsara or similar fleet management systems.

* Knowledge of urban delivery routes and safe driving practices.

# Physical Requirements

* Frequently lift and carry parcels weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg).

* Push and pull loaded carts or containers.

* Repeatedly enter and exit delivery vehicles throughout the day.

* Walk, stand, bend, kneel, and climb stairs while making deliveries.

* Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
