Delivery Helper/Driver

Description:

This position is responsible for the careful loading and unloading of the delivery trucks, providing professional, efficient delivery service in the customers’ home, and working with other departments to ensure a positive overall customer experience. All safety guidelines must be adhered to.

Qualifications:

• 18 years or older
• Valid Class 5 drivers license and clean drivers abstract
• Minimum 3 years driving experience
• Open to a criminal record check
• Warehouse experience preferred
• Perform physical labour (lifting 50lbs on a regular basis)
• Strong work history focused on safe work practices
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Strong work attendance, willingness to learn, follows instructions
• Open to a criminal record check

Responsibilities:

• Load and unload delivery trucks efficiently.
• Deliver products to customers’ homes with care.
• To ensure that you wear your Leon’s uniform and that it is clean and presentable each day. Safety shoes are mandatory.
• Provide set up and assembly.
• Represent Leon’s with professionalism and courtesy and provide exceptional customer service.
• Comply with company policies and procedures including health & safety policies and procedures.
• Unwrap and re-wrap products as required, for delivery or pick up.
• Understand and follow all procedures in the warehouse.

Customer Service:

• Ensure that professionalism, integrity, skilled product handling, and commitment to providing excellent service is provided to our customer.
• When entering a customers’ home, the driver and helper should ensure their shoes are clean. They should carry moving blankets with them to cover the customers’floor.
• Work with other departments if a problem arises during delivery. Attend joint department meetings and training sessions.

Administration:

• Complete daily truck inspections and file paperwork appropriately
• Finalize and file paperwork appropriately on the tablet provided.
• Attend warehouse safety talks and warm up.

Truck safety:

• It is then responsibility of the helper to assist the driver when backing up.

1) The helper must exit the truck and check the area for any low lying wires, branches, or oncoming vehicles, pedestrians and any object that may be in the way.

2) The helper walks along the side of the truck in clear view of the driver. At no time must the helper walk directly behind the truck.

3) The helper must then guide the driver backwards until the truck has reached its destination, come to full stop, and the parking brake in engaged.

4) The helper must wear the reflective vest provided by Leon’s.

Working Conditions:

• Work both in and outdoors
• Requires travelling within city limits and surrounding areas
• Heavy lifting (over 50lbs) and negotiating the safe movement of product on and off the delivery truck
• Frequently moving the whole body, standing or walking for periods of time: sitting

Facility Maintenance/Safety:

• Participate in JHSC (optional)
• Participate in daily cleaning and disinfection and make sure check lists are filed
• Follow Health & Safety workplace guidelines.
• Ensure that the truck and truck bed remains clean and organized.
• Dispose of garage and bailing cardboard upon return to warehouse.
• Ensure proper storage and use of tools
• Complete First Aid and CPR (optional)
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.30-$17.00 per year
