Full job description

Mover / Driver — Senior Move Services | Growth to Team Lead

Genie Senior Services — Waterloo Region, ON

Part-time to start | Growth to full-time | $24–$28/hour, with higher compensation possible for the right fit

This is not a standard moving job.

Genie Senior Services helps seniors and their families with some of life’s most important transitions. We help clients downsize, pack, move, unpack, set up their new space, and settle into retirement residences, condos, apartments, or smaller homes.

We are looking for a reliable, capable Mover / Driver based in Waterloo Region, where our truck and trailer are currently located. We serve clients across Waterloo Region and into London, with London work dispatched from Waterloo Region for now.

This role is ideal for someone who has some moving experience, is comfortable driving a truck and trailer combination, and understands that working with seniors requires patience, empathy, professionalism, and care.

For the right person, this role could grow into a Team Lead position as the business expands.

What You’ll Do

You will be part of a small, professional team helping seniors and families through the moving process. Responsibilities may include:

· Driving a pickup truck with an enclosed trailer

· Loading and unloading furniture, boxes, totes, and household items

· Packing and unpacking client belongings

· Helping set up furniture and household items in a new home or retirement residence

· Taking items to donation, disposal, storage, recycling, or other destinations

· Assisting with basic furniture placement and light assembly

· Working respectfully around seniors, families, retirement home staff, and referral partners

· Keeping the truck, trailer, tools, and equipment organized and ready for work

· Supporting a calm, professional, and reassuring experience for clients

What We’re Looking For

The right person will be physically capable, dependable, and good with people. You do not need to be a career mover, but you should understand the basics of moving and take pride in doing careful, professional work.

You should have:

· Some experience with moving, delivery, furniture handling, construction, warehousing, or similar physical work

· Experience driving a pickup truck and trailer combination

· A valid Ontario G driver’s licence

· A clean driver’s abstract

· Strong interpersonal skills

· Patience, empathy, and maturity when working with seniors and families

· The ability to safely move furniture and boxes as part of a two-person team

· Good judgment, punctuality, and reliability

· A professional appearance and communication style

· A willingness to help wherever needed on move days

A criminal record check will be required.

Growth Opportunity

This is a part-time role to start, but we expect it to evolve toward full-time work in the coming months as the business grows.

For the right person, this could become a Team Lead role, with responsibility for:

· Running move days

· Leading small crews

· Communicating with clients and retirement home staff

· Managing the truck and trailer

· Helping ensure each job is completed professionally, safely, and with care

Compensation

Starting range: $24–$28/hour

We are open to paying above this range for someone with the right combination of moving experience, truck/trailer capability, reliability, and leadership potential.

Why Join Genie Senior Services?

This is a chance to do practical, hands-on work that genuinely matters. Our clients are often going through a major life transition, and the way we show up can make a stressful day feel organized, calm, and manageable.

If you are strong, dependable, careful with people’s belongings, and good with people, this could be an excellent fit.

How to Apply

Please apply with your resume and a brief note outlining:

· Your moving, delivery, or physical work experience

· Your experience driving a truck and trailer

· Your availability

· Why do you think you would be a good fit working with seniors and families?

Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour
