MCL Trucking Ltd. is an experienced trucking company based out of Edmonton, AB. area with over 15 years in the trucking industry. MCL Trucking Ltd. has a proven track record of being a great employer while providing great results for our clients.

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Hot Shot Driver to join our team. A Hot Shot Driver is responsible for transporting time-sensitive and small loads using a pickup truck and trailer, often to remote or hard-to-reach locations. This role is essential in ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of goods, often for industries such as oil and gas. This position requires a strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with the transport team to ensure the successful and secure delivery of cargo.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transport Goods: Safely and efficiently transport small to medium-sized loads to various destinations. Ensure timely delivery of freight according to schedules and customer requirements.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain the truck and trailer to ensure they are in good working condition. Perform routine maintenance and report any issues to the appropriate department.
  • Load Management: Secure loads properly to prevent shifting or damage during transit. Ensure that all cargo is loaded and unloaded safely.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations regarding the operation of commercial vehicles. Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and expenses.
  • Customer Service: Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other stakeholders. Provide excellent customer service by ensuring deliveries are made on time and in good condition.
  • Documentation: Complete all necessary paperwork for deliveries, including bills of lading, delivery receipts, and logs. Maintain electronic logs and use GPS and other technologies for route planning and tracking.
  • Safety: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure personal and public safety. Attend safety meetings and training sessions as required.

Skills/Requirements:

  • Must have experience with operating a F550 hauling a gooseneck trailer.
  • Must be able to load and unload their own equipment such as skid steers and mini hoes.
  • Drivers with experience pulling gooseneck trailers and load securement is an asset.
  • Must have a clean Class 5 Drivers Licence (Not GDL).
  • Having a clean Class 3 Drivers Licence is an asset.
  • Previous experience as a Pilot Truck/ Hot Shot Driver is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of traffic laws, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with other team members.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to lift and secure heavy loads.
  • Proficiency in operating communication devices and GPS systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing road conditions.
