Overview

Join our dynamic logistics team as a Shunt Truck Driver and become a vital part of our operations! In this energetic role, you will be responsible for efficiently moving freight and containers within our facility, ensuring smooth flow and timely deliveries. Your expertise in heavy equipment operation and commercial driving will keep our supply chain running seamlessly. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in forklift operation, automotive repair, and freight handling while supporting a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment.

Duties

  • Safely operate shunt trucks to move freight containers, trailers, and equipment within the yard and loading areas
  • Use forklifts and other heavy equipment to load, unload, and position freight accurately
  • Conduct routine inspections of shunt trucks and other machinery, performing basic automotive repairs as needed to ensure optimal performance
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff to organize freight movements efficiently and meet operational deadlines
  • Follow safety protocols diligently during all operations, including securing loads and inspecting equipment before use
  • Maintain accurate logs of freight movements, equipment usage, and safety checks for compliance purposes
  • Assist with troubleshooting mechanical issues on heavy equipment to minimize downtime

Experience

  • Proven experience operating commercial vehicles such as shunt trucks or similar heavy equipment in a logistics or warehouse environment
  • Familiarity with forklift operation and freight handling procedures
  • Knowledge of basic automotive repair techniques for routine maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) or equivalent certification preferred
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently in a fast-paced setting
  • Strong understanding of safety standards related to heavy equipment operation and freight transportation
