Route Sales & Delivery Manager

Interstate Batteries of Southern Ontario Warehouse Location: Woodbridge, ON Territory: GTA and extended Southern Ontario

About Us

Interstate Batteries is one of North America’s most trusted battery brands, delivering dependable power and exceptional service for over 70 years.

Interstate Batteries of Southern Ontario is a local, family-owned and operated distributorship serving the region since 1990. We supply automotive shops, dealerships, fleets, and industrial customers throughout Ontario.

Our reputation has been built on "Outrageous Dependability” - showing up, working hard, and taking care of our customers. We pride ourselves on having the highest quality customer service in the industry.

We are looking for a reliable, hard-working individual to join our team as a Route Sales & Delivery Manager.

This role combines delivery, customer relationship management, and sales growth within an assigned territory.

What You'll Do

As a Route Sales & Delivery Manager, you will manage a territory of existing customers while delivering products, building relationships, and growing sales on your route.

You will be the primary person businesses interact with in your territory, and your reliability and service will directly impact the success of the route.

Key responsibilities include:

Route Deliveries

  • Deliver batteries and related products to customers on an established route that is managed by our dispatch team.
  • Load and unload product throughout the day
  • Maintain organized inventory on your delivery vehicle
  • Ensure timely and accurate deliveries - often 14-20 stops in a day.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build strong relationships with shop owners, service managers, and parts departments
  • Provide excellent service and trustworthy product advice
  • Address customer concerns regarding warranties, pricing, or product performance

Route Sales Growth

  • Identify opportunities to grow sales within existing accounts
  • Maintain dealer displays and rotate batteries to maintain product quality
  • Support dealer inventory and consignment programs
  • Open new accounts when opportunities arise

Core Battery Recovery

  • Collect used batteries from customers for recycling
  • Ensure proper handling and transportation of cores
  • Maintain proper documentation

Safety & Operations

  • Perform daily vehicle inspections
  • Secure loads and follow all safety procedures
  • Maintain an organized truck and work area
  • Follow all environmental health and safety policies

Territory & Work Location

Our warehouse and distribution facility is located in Woodbridge, Ontario, where routes begin and inventory is loaded.

The territory this role will primarily support includes the southeast portion of the Greater Toronto Area, extending outward to areas such as:

  • Scarborough
  • Belleville
  • Lindsay
  • Peterborough

Routes may occasionally require longer travel days or overnight trips, depending on customer needs.

Territories may evolve as the business grows. There may be opportunities in the future to adjust routes or service different regions based on employee preferences and operational needs.

In some cases, depending on location and efficiency, company vehicles may be permitted to be taken home and parked overnight if it reduces unnecessary travel and improves route efficiency.

The Reality of the Job

We believe in being upfront about what the job involves.

This is not just a driving job.

Some days you may:

  • Lift and move a high volume of batteries
  • Drive a truck with air brakes
  • Deliver to busy automotive shops and warehouses
  • Handle warranty questions or pricing pushback from customers
  • Expected to constantly provide a high level of customer care
  • Occasionally travel overnight to service more distant customers

This role requires someone who is physically capable, dependable, and comfortable interacting with people.

If you enjoy working hard and taking ownership of your work, you’ll do well here.

What We're Looking For

We care more about character, reliability, and work ethic than industry experience.

The right candidate is someone who:

✔ Shows up every day ready to work their hardest

Communicates well with customers and coworkers

✔ Can work independently and stay organized

✔ Takes pride in doing the job right

✔ Handles challenges professionally

We are looking for someone who treats their route like it’s their own business.

  • Ability to frequently lift batteries (25–50+ lbs)
  • Ability to handle high volumes of physical work throughout the day
  • Strong communication and customer service skills in English
  • Ability to work independently and manage a daily route

Assets (not required):

  • Delivery or route management experience
  • Sales or customer service experience
  • Warehouse or logistics experience
  • Forklift experience

Paid training will be provided - Including a Z license endorsement

Benefits include:

  • Competitive salary
  • Quarterly bonus incentive structure based on personal and company performance
  • Company vehicle provided during work hours
  • Fuel card for company vehicle
  • Paid training
  • Allowance for safety shoes, work pants, and prescription safety glasses
  • Comprehensive health benefits
  • Health Spending Account
  • Insurance coverage
  • Paid sick days
  • Stable, long-term employment with a national industry leader

Our Work Environment

Interstate Batteries of Southern Ontario is proud to be a local family-run business operating since 1990.

We operate with a small, hardworking team where people support each other and take pride in what they do.

While much of the role is spent independently on your route, you’ll be working alongside a team that values:

  • Strong communication
  • Accountability
  • Teamwork
  • A positive workplace culture

We take safety seriously, but we also believe work should be a place where people enjoy coming and working together.

Creating a positive, respectful, and supportive environment is a priority for our team.
