About us

Degrees Diner - UMSU is restaurant located on the 3rd floor of UMSU University Centre at the University of Manitoba, we are a bustling diner cooking up delicious, homemade eats. We have a focus on local and sustainable food and are looking for a friendly, motivated and reliable person to join our team.

We are looking for experienced line cooks with availability between 10am - 5pm Monday-Friday. This role does not require weekend and holiday availability.

Responsibilities for BOH:

  • Setting up stations for service.
  • Prepare and cook food in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and utensils.
  • Keep the work area, including the kitchen and dish area, clean, organized, and sanitary at all times.
  • Follow recipes and instructions precisely.
  • Comply with all food safety rules and regulations.
  • Work cooperatively with the team to maintain a high level of service to our customers.
  • Able to work independently but also with a team
  • Ability to multitask
  • Works well under pressure
  • Ability to open and/or close

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of line cooking
  • Food Safe Certification required
  • WHMIS Certification required
  • Strong attention to detail required.
  • Able to work at a quick, yet efficient and thorough pace.
  • Able to follow instructions.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
