People & Culture Lead – Halifax Metro Area, Nova Scotia
Build Culture. Support People. Drive Growth.
You're the kind of person who believes great organizations are built by great people.
You know that HR is about more than policies and processes. It's about creating an environment where people feel supported, leaders feel equipped, and teams can do their best work. You balance empathy with accountability, strategy with execution, and people with performance.
If building culture, attracting talent, developing leaders, and creating meaningful employee experiences sounds like your kind of challenge, keep reading.
Help Us Build What’s Next.
At Brightisle, we’re reimagining how people access and manage their own care and supports. As we continue to grow, we're looking for a collaborative, people-focused People & Culture Lead to help shape the employee experience and build the foundations that will support our future.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in an evolving environment and enjoys building systems, strengthening culture, supporting leaders, and making a meaningful impact on both employees and the communities we serve.
About Us
Brightisle is a leading provider of health and community care services. With more than 1,000 employees and over 25 years of experience, we are committed to improving lives through innovative, person-centered care and support services.
Our values guide everything we do:
- Everyone Matters
- Be Honest and Kind
- Make it Happen
- Find a Better Way
- Have Fun
What You'll Do
As our People & Culture Lead, you'll play a key role in shaping the employee experience and strengthening the culture that supports our mission. Working closely with organizational leadership, you'll help ensure our people practices, values, and day-to-day employee experience are aligned as we grow. This is a hands-on role that combines strategy with execution, requiring someone who can build strong relationships, provide trusted advice, and create programs and processes that help both people and the organization thrive.
- Lead full-cycle recruitment and workforce planning to attract, hire, and retain talented, values-aligned employees.
- Champion employee engagement, culture, and belonging initiatives that foster connection, accountability, and a positive workplace experience.
- Partner with leaders on performance management, coaching, succession planning, and employee development.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on employee relations matters, providing guidance that is fair, consistent, and people-centered.
- Develop and enhance HR policies, programs, and processes that support organizational growth and operational excellence.
- Help leaders navigate change, build strong teams, and cultivate a culture aligned with our values and mission.
- Use workforce data and insights to inform decision-making, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement.
- Support workplace health, safety, wellbeing, and compliance while ensuring employees have the resources they need to succeed.
What You Bring
- A diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business, Industrial Relations, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience in a generalist, advisor, or leadership capacity.
- Strong experience in recruitment, employee relations, and performance management.
- Working knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.
- Experience supporting leaders and managing workplace issues with professionalism and empathy.
- A strong ability to balance strategy with day-to-day execution.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving, and growth-oriented environment.
- Experience with HR systems, CRMs, or technology-enabled workplaces is considered an asset.
- A CPHR designation or progress toward designation is considered an asset.
Who You Are
You're a people-focused HR professional who builds trust through honesty, empathy, and accountability. You love variety and are energized by building and improving rather than simply maintaining the status quo. You enjoy being close to people, partnering with leaders and employees to create positive experiences and strong teams. Equally comfortable thinking strategically and rolling up your sleeves, you thrive in evolving environments and are always looking for better ways to support people and strengthen culture. Most importantly, you bring positive energy, a sense of fun, and a genuine passion for helping others do meaningful work and feel valued along the way
Why Brightisle?
This is an opportunity to build and shape the People & Culture function from the ground up while making a meaningful impact on organizational culture, employee experience, and growth. You'll join a collaborative team that values both performance and purpose, with the chance to influence how we attract, develop, engage, and support our people as we continue to grow. In return, we offer competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, RRSP matching, professional development opportunities, flexible work arrangements, and the opportunity to do work that truly makes a difference in the lives of others.
The salary range for this role begins at $70, 000 annually, with the final offer reflecting your experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the position.
