Position Overview:

We are looking for an experienced and confident Graduation Photography Lead to oversee our graduation photography sessions throughout the 2026 graduation season.

This is a full-time temporary position with opportunities to return for future graduation seasons, our school photography seasons, or potentially transition into a permanent role with Darby Photos.

The typical schedule will be approximately 2:00 PM–10:00 PM Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend availability required depending on graduation schedules and event needs. Some flexibility in start and end times may be required.

As the Graduation Photography Lead, you will be responsible for leading a team of photographers, managing the flow of the evening, and ensuring every graduate and family receives a professional and positive experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate a team of graduation photographers during each session.
  • Greet graduates and families and create a welcoming, professional atmosphere.
  • Manage graduate check-in and ensure an organized flow throughout the photography process.
  • Monitor and manage the photography schedule to keep sessions running on time.
  • Direct and pose graduates for individual portraits.
  • Arrange graduates, parents, and families for group and family portraits.
  • Create personalized portrait arrangements and settings based on each family's needs.
  • Ensure photographers are following Darby Photos' posing, lighting, and quality standards.
  • Provide direction and support to photographers throughout the session.
  • Monitor image quality, posing, composition, and attention to detail.
  • Communicate with school staff, graduates, and families professionally.
  • Troubleshoot issues and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ensure the photography area remains organized and professional throughout the evening.
  • Help set up and dismantle photography equipment as required.

Requirements:

  • Previous professional photography experience, preferably in portraits or graduations.
  • Experience leading or managing a team is an asset.
  • A true people person who enjoys interacting with graduates, families, and school staff.
  • Confident directing individuals and groups and providing clear posing instructions.
  • Highly organized and comfortable managing schedules and multiple photographers at once.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high standard for image quality.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where schedules can change quickly.
  • Professional, energetic, and positive demeanor.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable working evenings and travelling to various schools and graduation venues throughout the Lower Mainland.
  • A valid BC driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required.
  • Successful candidates must reside in the Lower Mainland and be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Due to the nature of our work with children and minors, passing a criminal record check will be required.
