As a Database Administrator at Shane Homes, you have a natural curiosity for how things work – always looking to understand and asking questions. You are cool as a cucumber under pressure, and approach stressful situations methodically and with ease. You understand that at the end of the day technology is here to support people, and your clear and concise communication style enables you to support them as well. Lastly, just like everyone else at Shane Homes, you take your job seriously, but don’t take yourself too seriously.

We would love it if you had these:

  • 2-5 years of experience as a Database Administrator or equivalent
  • Strong Microsoft SQL Server experience
  • Experience with performance tuning and recovery models
  • Proficiency in SQL scripting a database design
  • Experience with reporting tools
  • Diploma or degree in IT or related field

Nice-to-Have:

  • Dashboarding / BI tools (Power BI, etc.)
  • PowerAutomate / PowerApps
  • Windows Server familiarity
  • Data warehousing Experience

Here's What Your Day-To-Day Could Look Like:

Database Administration & Performance:

  • Maintain and optimize SQL Server database environments
  • Monitor and tune database performance
  • Manage backups, restores, and disaster recovery
  • Implement and maintain database security and access controls
  • Troubleshoot database issues

Data, Reporting & Business Intelligence:

  • Configure and maintain system security, software, and hardware across departments
  • Develop and maintain reports (e.g., Crystal Reports)
  • Develop and maintain custom dynamic spreadsheets (e.g., Excel Power Query)
  • Design and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures
  • Build dashboards and data visualizations
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on reporting needs

Systems & Infrastructure Collaboration:

  • Support database-related infrastructure and integrations
  • Assist with system upgrades and deployments
  • Contribute to IT operations when needed

Security, Standards & Documentation:

  • Enforce database governance and standards
  • Maintain documentation
  • Support cybersecurity initiatives Cybersecurity

Team Collaboration & Support:

  • Provide technical support and guidance
  • Assist with training and knowledge sharing
