Dairy Farm Assistant, Ireland

Job type: Full-time, Permanent
Location: Ireland
Salary: €36,605 Per Annum Gross

About the Role

We are recruiting a reliable, hard-working Dairy Farm Assistant to join a busy, well-run dairy farm in Ireland. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves working with animals and wants to build a long-term career in Irish dairy farming.

Key Responsibilities

  • Milking cows in the parlour, following hygiene and milk quality procedures
  • Feeding and caring for dairy cows, calves and young stock
  • Assisting during the calving season, including calf rearing and monitoring cows
  • Spotting signs of basic illness or lameness and treating them promptly
  • Helping with herd health tasks, breeding and record keeping
  • Cleaning and maintaining the milking parlour, sheds and equipment
  • Assisting with grassland management, silage and slurry work
  • Operating farm machinery (tractors, loaders, etc.) safely
  • Following all animal welfare, health and safety and environmental standards

Requirements

  • 3-4 years of experience on a Modern Dairy Farm
  • Knowledge of milking routines and animal husbandry
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends and long hours during the calving season
  • Good physical fitness and a practical, hands-on attitude
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Full driving licence an advantage
  • Agricultural qualification an advantage, but not essential
