The Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain Laboratory, Department of OBGYN is seeking a full time Research Associate to apply their expertise to multiple projects concerning endometriosis and pelvic pain. The majority of work will take place at BC Women’s Hospital in Vancouver, BC. The primary role will be to support the physician, patient and public education arm of the research program. The Research Associate will support project implementation, perform quantitative and qualitative data analysis, knowledge translation, manuscript preparation and grant writing
The UBC Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology has training programs at the undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels, and pursues research to make innovative advancements in knowledge and translate it to practice to improve health. The Department consists of more than 300 physicians and scientists as well as over 50 administrative, research, and technical staff. Specialty training programs are offered in gynaecologic oncology, maternal fetal medicine, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, as well as advanced training programs in endometriosis, pelvic pain and advanced laparoscopic surgery, family planning, vulvovaginal health and female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Research Director, Dr. Paul Yong, the incumbent will be responsible for:

Project initiation (eg. ethics applications, protocol development, Health Canada approvals, hospital operational approvals and drafting study materials)

Recruitment and Data collection for various projects
-
Design and evaluation of education and knowledge translation products for physicians, patients and the public
-
Qualitative data analysis
-
Qualitative data analysis
-
Manuscript preparation
-
Grant writing
-
Any other tasks that support the Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain Laboratory mission and vision.
QUALIFICATIONS
Successful applicants will have:

Quantitative research expertise;

Qualitative research expertise;

Expertise in user-centered design, patient-oriented research and working alongside community members to achieve meaningful research outcomes.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing (in English). Strong record of developing conventional and innovative educational and knowledge translation outputs directed at scientific experts and lay audiences;

Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities;

Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
