Full job description

Position Overview:
Dorset Timber Mart is looking for a reliable and hardworking Yard Laborer to join our team. This full-time position involves hands-on work in our lumber yard, where you’ll play a key role in supporting daily operations, ensuring a safe and efficient yard, and helping with customer service when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in loading and unloading materials such as lumber, building supplies, and other products
  • Organize and maintain the yard to ensure cleanliness and efficiency
  • Operate forklifts and other equipment safely (training provided if needed)
  • Assist customers in locating and loading purchased materials
  • Inspect incoming deliveries and stock materials in designated areas
  • Ensure proper care and handling of all products to prevent damage
  • Adhere to safety standards and maintain a safe work environment

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to perform physical labor (lifting, bending, moving heavy items)
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work well with a team
  • Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions
  • Valid G license preferred (or willingness to obtain)
  • Forklift experience is an asset but not required—training will be provided
  • Previous experience in a lumber yard or similar environment is a plus but not mandatory
