Join our team!! Locher Evers International (“LEI”), An EFL Group Company, industry leading and highly regarded freight forwarder, is growing rapidly! LEI has an immediate opening at our Dorval Office in Quebec for a full-time Customer Solutions Specialist, Ocean Export.

We are seeking a new team member that enjoys a fast-paced environment and is reliable, pro-active, that also has excellent analytical and organizational skills.

Main Duties:

  • Handling LCL/FCL/Consolidation Ocean export shipments A-Z, including but not limited to: receiving and processing booking orders and general inquiries from customers, arranging ocean freight bookings, completing trucking arrangements, documentation, billing, tracing, some quoting, general customer service.
  • Maintaining and updating customer records within CargoWise.
  • Handling customer inquiries and providing timely, accurate information regarding international freight shipments.
  • Coordinating with internal departments (operations, customs, and pricing) to ensure the smooth movement of freight.
  • Providing exceptional client service, and maintaining strong relationships with customers, as well as vendors, business partners and service providers.
  • Arranging and planning shipment delivery/pick-up with transportation companies, track and trace shipments to final destinations.
  • Handling communications with clients and other business partners in a timely and professional manner.
  • Resolving any operational issues and customer complaints as they arise and implement measures to prevent their frequency and recurrence.
  • Auditing carrier’s invoice and reconciling payments/remittances. Responsible for billing of shipments and storage/demurrage for approved accounts.
  • Make continuous improvements on internal systems and procedures to leverage the service quality and process efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Experience working in freight forwarding and/or ocean carrier sector preferred
  • Experience in Cargowise is preferred, but not a requirement
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • A high level of mental alertness and sense of urgency is required
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills are required on a daily basis
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, good level of French is required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Ability to build relationships in person, via phone and by e-mail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Resourceful and able to multi-task and respond to a dynamic work environment
