APC Integrity Engineering Ltd. is a growing structural engineering and construction consulting firm specializing in residential wood-frame construction, renovations, multifamily developments, light commercial projects, and glass and glazing systems throughout British Columbia.

We pride ourselves on providing practical engineering solutions, exceptional customer service, quick turnaround times, and strong client relationships. As our company continues to grow, we are seeking a highly organized and motivated Engineering Administrator & Drafting Detailer to join our team.

Position Overview

This position is ideal for an individual with a strong understanding of residential construction who enjoys organization, project coordination, technical drafting, documentation management, and client communication.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting engineering staff, maintaining project organization, coordinating permit submissions, preparing shop drawings, managing engineering records, and ensuring projects move efficiently from initial client inquiry through completion.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of balancing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

ResponsibilitiesProject Administration & Coordination

  • Coordinate engineering projects from initial client inquiry through project completion.
  • Set up new projects and maintain project tracking systems.
  • Schedule project activities and assist with workload coordination.
  • Coordinate communication between clients, engineers, contractors, architects, fabricators, and municipal authorities.
  • Prepare project correspondence, transmittals, reports, and project documentation.
  • Assist with invoicing support and project closeout procedures.
  • Ensure project files remain complete, organized, and up to date.
  • Follow up with clients, consultants, and municipalities as required.

Drafting & Technical Support

  • Prepare shop drawings and construction details for residential and light commercial projects.
  • Assist engineers with drawing revisions and permit submission packages.
  • Produce and revise drawings using AutoCAD and other drafting software.
  • Coordinate drawing revisions with contractors, fabricators, suppliers, and engineering staff.
  • Maintain standard drawing details and drafting libraries.
  • Review drawings for completeness and consistency before issuance.
  • Assist with technical document preparation and engineering reports.

Permit Applications & Municipal Coordination

  • Prepare and coordinate permit application packages.
  • Submit documentation to municipalities and regulatory authorities.
  • Track permit applications and respond to municipal requests for information.
  • Coordinate revisions required during permit review processes.
  • Maintain records of permit approvals and project correspondence.

Document Control, Quality Management & Engineering Records

  • Maintain APC Integrity's engineering document management system.
  • Organize and maintain project files in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain standard drawing details, templates, specifications, and technical libraries.
  • Manage revision control and document tracking procedures.
  • Assist with quality management procedures and EGBC Permit to Practice requirements.
  • Assist with preparation for EGBC audits and internal quality reviews.
  • Maintain field review reports, sealed documents, schedules, calculations, and engineering records.
  • Develop and maintain office systems that improve efficiency and organization.

Client Intake & Customer Service

  • Respond to incoming client inquiries.
  • Gather project information and prepare project intake documentation.
  • Assist clients through the project initiation process.
  • Maintain professional and responsive communication with clients.
  • Support the engineering team in delivering exceptional customer service.

QualificationsRequired

  • Strong understanding of residential construction methods and terminology.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience in construction, engineering, architecture, drafting, or project coordination.
  • AutoCAD drafting experience.
  • Experience preparing shop drawings.
  • Experience with permit applications and municipal processes.
  • Knowledge of residential wood-frame construction.
  • Experience working in an engineering, construction, or consulting environment.
