Ceres Terminals is seeking a Cruise Service Representative to join our team. This seasonal position is based at our office in Canada Place, Vancouver and reports to the Lead, Cruise Services.

The Position

As a Cruise Service Representative, you will play a pivotal role in providing direct assistance to passengers and addressing their general inquiries while ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience throughout their cruise journey. Responsibilities include supporting passengers during the screening process and escorting delivery personnel to designated areas. Strong communication skills, exceptional customer service, and a commitment to guest satisfaction are essential for this role.

This position is a seasonal part-time role, 20-30 hours per week, with work conducted on-site. The ability to work a flexible schedule as this position will be required to work weekends and holidays during the cruise season.

Responsibilities & Activities

  • Passenger Assistance: Provide comprehensive assistance and direction to passengers during their visit to Canada Place Cruise Ship Terminal.
  • Customer Service: Serve as a primary point of contact for passengers, addressing their questions and concerns promptly, courteously, and appropriately.
  • Information Provision: Ensure passengers are well-informed and equipped to make the most of their cruise experience.
  • Problem Resolution: Proactively identify and resolve passenger issues, complaints, and conflicts in a professional and diplomatic manner. Collaborate with relevant companies and/or agencies to address passenger concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Emergency Response: Demonstrate proficiency in emergency procedures and protocols, including safety drills and evacuation exercises. Act as a liaison for guests during emergency situations, providing clear instructions and reassurance as needed.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Port Authority, Regulatory Agencies, and cruise line staff to ensure coordinated and efficient passenger support. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment conducive to exceptional guest service delivery.
  • Administrative Tasks: Complete administrative duties such as maintaining processing guest feedback, preparing reports, and assisting with general office tasks as required.

Candidates selected for this position must undergo and successfully complete a background check conducted by Transport Canada.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with passengers of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with proficiency in multiple languages considered a plus.
  • Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of cruise ship operations, destinations, and onboard facilities is advantageous.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, weekends, and holidays, as required by cruise schedules.
  • Preferred Education & Certifications: High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in hospitality, tourism, or a related field is preferred.
  • Preferred Work Experience:Previous experience in customer service, guest relations, or hospitality roles, preferably within the cruise industry.

Working conditions & physical

  • Position requires occasional heavy lifting 50-75 pounds and operating in both an office and outside environment which may be unprotected from the elements. Significant standing, stooping, climbing, grasping, and reaching and visual acuity is required.

  • On a scale of 1 to 5, Please rate your communication and problem-solving skills.
  • How many years of customer service experience do you have?
  • How would you respond to a frustrated customer?
  • Are you available for part-time shift work, with shifts ranging from 4 to 7 hours per day between the start and end time of 09:00 – 17:00 hrs?
  • Are you available to work the entirety of a summer contract? (From April until October, 2025)
