Full job description

The Cruise Coordinator plays an important role in the planning, execution, and delivery of contracted shore excursions for visiting cruise line clients. Working as part of a collaborative operations team, Cruise Coordinators help ensure tours depart safely, efficiently, and on schedule while delivering a welcoming and professional guest experience.

This role acts as a key point of contact shoreside, assisting with guest movement, tour dispatch, ticket accountability, and communication between guests, tour operators, port partners, and Ambassatours staff.

Cruise Coordinators are often one of the first local representatives guests interact with while visiting port and are expected to provide friendly, knowledgeable, and confident service throughout the day.




Responsibilities

Guest & Tour Operations

  • Coordinate the dispatch and departure of shore excursions
  • Ensure guests are directed to the correct tours and departure locations
  • Assist with organizing motorcoaches, tour groups, and guest flow on the pier
  • Monitor tour departure times and adherence to operational schedules
  • Maintain accountability for guests while shoreside awaiting departure

Ticketing & Sales

  • Collect, verify, and account for tour tickets
  • Assist with tour sales and guest inquiries when required
  • Maintain accurate handling of operational paperwork and reporting

Guest Experience

  • Welcome guests in a warm, professional, and approachable manner
  • Answer guest questions and provide general destination information
  • Act as a cultural ambassador for the region and community
  • Provide clear direction and confidently manage groups in busy environments

Teamwork & Communication

  • Work collaboratively with:
    • Local tourism suppliers
    • Tour operators
    • Port staff
    • Cruise line representatives
    • Ambassatours team members
  • Communicate effectively in fast-paced and changing operational environments
  • Support overall team success and positive guest outcomes



Qualifications
  • Willingness to participate in training, coaching, and performance evaluations
  • Successfully complete required operational and tour-readiness training
  • Reliable and consistent access to email and a cell phone during working hours
  • Ability to climb and descend at least one flight of stairs multiple times per shift
  • Ability to continuously walk a minimum of 1 km on varied surfaces and elevations
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods
