Position Overview:

The Software Lifecycle & Endpoint Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end management, governance, and optimization of the organization’s desktop and cloud software ecosystem. This role combines Software Asset Management (SAM), endpoint engineering, software packaging, vulnerability remediation, and patch management to ensure corporate endpoints remain secure, standardized, cost-effective, and operationally efficient.

The successful candidate will act as a key technical resource supporting enterprise software lifecycle activities including application packaging, automated deployments, software rationalization, cloud licensing oversight, compatibility testing, and endpoint security compliance. This role also serves as a bridge between IT Operations, Security, Procurement, and business stakeholders to support software governance and modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and manage a comprehensive inventory of all desktop and cloud (SaaS) applications across the enterprise
  • Monitor software renewal cycles and collaborate with Procurement on vendor evaluations, renewals, and cost optimization initiatives
  • Identify redundant or underutilized applications and lead software rationalization and standardization efforts
  • Manage the decommissioning and retirement of obsolete, unauthorized, or unsupported software
  • Package and re-package enterprise applications and security patches for automated deployment using tools such as Flexera AdminStudio, InstallShield, or similar technologies
  • Develop and maintain deployment automation scripts using PowerShell and other scripting technologies
  • Perform application compatibility testing to ensure successful deployment across corporate operating system builds and endpoint configurations
  • Coordinate deployment of third-party security patches across enterprise endpoints
  • Monitor vendor and security bulletins to ensure patch compliance targets and remediation SLAs are achieved
  • Troubleshoot failed software deployments, packaging issues, and endpoint vulnerabilities
  • Support vulnerability remediation efforts in collaboration with Security and Infrastructure teams
  • Establish and maintain enterprise software governance standards and approved software baselines
  • Generate reporting related to software usage, compliance, and license utilization to support optimization and reclamation initiatives
  • Serve as a technical lead for software lifecycle and migration initiatives, including cloud platform transitions and enterprise application upgrades
  • Collaborate with Desktop Engineering, Security, Procurement, and business stakeholders to improve endpoint management processes and governance practices

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with enterprise software packaging technologies such as Flexera AdminStudio, InstallShield, or Wise Package Studio
  • Strong scripting and automation experience using PowerShell
  • Hands-on experience with endpoint management and deployment platforms such as Microsoft Intune, SCCM (MECM), or Ivanti EPM
  • Experience supporting enterprise software deployment, patching, and endpoint management in large-scale environments
  • Strong understanding of Software Asset Management (SAM) principles and software lifecycle governance
  • Experience managing SaaS licensing and cloud application ecosystems including Microsoft 365, Adobe Creative Cloud, Lucid, and similar platforms
  • Knowledge of vulnerability management, endpoint security practices, and patch compliance processes
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills related to software deployment and endpoint issues
  • Ability to analyze software portfolios and identify opportunities for consolidation, optimization, and cost savings
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across technical and business teams
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced enterprise environment
  • Experience leading or supporting software migration and modernization initiatives is considered an asset
