Restorative Wellness by Footholds Therapy Center is currently seeking Child & Youth Care Workers (CYCWs) ready to work alongside an amazing team of people who are passionate about seeing our unique kids flourish.

Inspired by children and families, Footholds Therapy Center combines clinical judgement with compassion and hope to create a therapeutic environment in which goals are realized. We are a growing, locally owned, family-run therapy center that has been operating in Nanaimo and the Comox Valley for over ten years.

Footholds CYCWs provide direct, hands-on support to children and youth with challenging behaviours, high medical needs, autism, and youth at risk. Working within the client’s home, CYCWs provide floor support, guidance, and daily living assistance, following the Footholds Guiding Principles to build therapeutic relationships and support each client’s social-emotional and physical needs.

What You’ll Do

· Engage clients in activities and positive support strategies, focused on active engagement and visual supports

· Assist with personal hygiene, meal preparation, and other daily living needs

· Perform wellness check-ins and support clients through challenging behaviours

· Administer medications and complete Medication Administration Records

· Complete client-specific data sheets, session notes, and communication logs

· Advocate for the child by acting in their best interest

· Maintain a clean, orderly home environment and help with light household tasks

· Attend monthly staff meetings, training sessions, and safety drills

What We’re Looking For

· Understanding of complex trauma, attachment, addiction, developmental disabilities, and trauma-reactive behaviours

· Demonstrated experience and training supporting children and youth with complex needs

· Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills, with a calm, solution-focused approach

· Reliable, organized, and consistent with documentation and follow-through

· Completion of FOIPPA (Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act) training, or willingness to complete

· Preferred: SIVA Training, MANDT, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention

· Preferred: Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Psychology, or a related field

· Must be 19 years of age or older to work with children in care, per MCFD guidelines

Schedule

We’re hiring multiple candidates to work 8-hour shifts covering 24-hour care. Let us know if you’d prefer day shifts or night shifts.
