Position Summary

Future Focus Counselling Center is seeking an experienced trauma therapist to join our in-person Kamloops team. This position is open to both full-time and part-time clinicians—those looking to maintain a caseload of approximately 8 clients per week (part-time) or up to 20 clients per week (full-time).

This role is ideal for a therapist with advanced trauma training and a warm, grounded presence who values autonomy, ethical excellence, and being part of a collaborative clinical community.

We are especially interested in clinicians who are passionate about working with couples and relationship dynamics, and who feel confident supporting partners navigating conflict, disconnection, and repair. There is strong and growing demand for couples therapy within our practice.

This is an independent contractor role (not a salaried position) that requires availability for in-person sessions in Kamloops. Counsellors manage their own schedules within the practice and are responsible for delivering high-quality clinical care. Compensation is based on a percentage split of sessions provided, with earnings reflecting individual caseload and client engagement.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide individual and/or couples therapy to clients experiencing trauma, relational distress, and emotional challenges
  • Support clients working through complex PTSD, attachment wounds, and relational patterns
  • Facilitate couples therapy focused on communication, conflict resolution, reconnection, and repair
  • Maintain timely and ethical clinical documentation
  • Manage your schedule and caseload within the practice framework
  • Engage in ongoing clinical development and consultation as needed

What We’re Looking For

  • Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, Social Work, or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years (or approximately 1,000 direct client hours) of post-graduate experience, with a strong trauma focus
  • Experience working with complex PTSD, single-incident trauma, developmental and relational trauma, dissociation, and attachment injuries
  • Experience or strong interest in couples and relationship therapy
  • Training in couples modalities such as Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), or Relational Life Therapy (RLT) is considered an asset
  • Registration in good standing as an RCC, CCC, or MSW (only candidates with these designations will be considered)
  • Advanced training in at least one trauma-specific modality (e.g., EMDR, IFS, Somatic Experiencing, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Brainspotting, TIST, OEI, Hypnosis)
  • Ongoing commitment to clinical supervision and ethical practice
  • Strong boundaries, documentation practices, and professionalism
  • A grounded, collaborative approach to therapy and teamwork
  • Capacity to maintain a consistent caseload of 10–20 clients per week
  • Professional liability insurance (general liability recommended)
  • Proof of current registration, liability insurance, Vulnerable Sector Check, and City of Kamloops business license
  • Two References from previous employers

What We Offer

  • Access to fully furnished offices in our brand-new, fully accessible downtown Kamloops location
  • A steady stream of client referrals aligned with your areas of specialization, including high demand for couples and relationship therapy
  • Opportunity to build and grow a couples and individual-focused caseload within the practice
  • Full administrative support (billing, scheduling, Jane App, encrypted email, etc.)
  • Peer consultation and a supportive clinical community
  • Professional marketing and SEO support to help sustain your caseload
  • WorkSafeBC coverage
  • Flexible scheduling — choose your own working days (weekdays and/or weekends)

Expected start date: July 15, 2026

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90.00-$110.00 per hour

Benefits:

  • Flexible schedule
