SENIOR CUSTOMS RATER

Position Summary:

  • Review, correct, and log using internal softwares to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure timely final accounting in CBSA systems.
  • Conduct regular internal audits to identify any discrepancies and maintain databases.
  • Mentoring and guidance of junior staff.
  • Assisting in customs clearances via various modes of transport.
  • Verify all documentation used for release is correct.
  • Obtain free trade agreement certificates, when required, to avoid duty payouts.
  • Classify tariff codes for new products.
  • Thoroughly review notes to importer specific requirements to confirm procedures are met.
  • Support in training release staff and developing and implementing standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to meet customers' service commitments.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS).
  • Minimum of 5 years industry experience.
  • Thorough understanding of Customs Tariff/Classification.
  • Proven expertise in written and verbal communication.
  • Proficient in keyboarding with a minimum speed of 40 WPM.
  • Capable of setting priorities, working autonomously, and achieving goals independently.
  • Ability to exhibit patience and adapt to changes effectively.
