We are seeking a talented, creative, and enthusiastic Photographer to join our team. This role will be responsible for capturing high-quality professional portraits of children across our daycare locations, as well as documenting special events and memorable moments throughout the organization.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in portrait and event photography, a solid understanding of professional photography techniques and lighting equipment, and a natural ability to connect with children and people of all ages.
From setting up portable photography studios and capturing children's portraits to photographing graduations, fundraisers, celebrations, and special events, you will oversee the photography process from start to finish, including editing and preparing final images for digital distribution and print.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about photography, enjoys working with children, and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

- Interact with children of various ages, from infants to preschoolers, to capture natural, engaging, and memorable portraits.
- Create a welcoming, positive, and comfortable environment that helps children feel at ease in front of the camera.
- Use creative techniques, prompts, and age-appropriate communication to encourage children to smile, engage, and look toward the camera.
- Demonstrate patience, flexibility, and adaptability when working with children who may be shy, energetic, or uncooperative.
- Maintain a consistent photography style and quality across all locations.
2. Event Photography
- Photograph a variety of organizational events, including graduations, fundraisers, celebrations, holiday parties, special occasions, and community events.
- Capture candid moments, group photographs, individual portraits, and key highlights throughout each event.
- Adapt photography techniques and equipment to different venues, lighting conditions, and event environments.
- Work collaboratively with event organizers and centre staff to understand photography requirements and capture important moments.
- Demonstrate professionalism and the ability to work efficiently in busy, dynamic event settings.
- Ensure important event activities, guests, and memorable moments are documented.
3. Photo Editing & Post-Production
- Review, select, and edit photographs to ensure professional-quality final images.
- Use Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop to enhance images, correct colours, adjust lighting, and remove minor imperfections.
- Perform basic retouching while maintaining natural and authentic-looking photographs.
- Organize, label, and manage large volumes of digital photographs efficiently.
- Prepare and export final images according to specified printing requirements, including resolution, sizing, and file formats.
- Prepare images for digital distribution, online galleries, and social media when required.
- Meet established editing and image delivery deadlines.
4. Equipment & Organization
- Independently set up, operate, and dismantle professional photography equipment.
- Safely handle and maintain all photography equipment provided by the company.
- Ensure equipment is properly organized, transported, and ready for scheduled photography sessions and events.
- Maintain an organized workflow for photographing, editing, storing, and delivering images.
- Follow all workplace policies and procedures, including child safety, privacy, and confidentiality requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of professional photography experience, with demonstrated experience in portrait and/or event photography.
- Strong experience using DSLR or mirrorless cameras and an understanding of manual camera settings.
- Demonstrated knowledge of professional photography equipment, including studio lighting, flash systems, light modifiers, and backdrops.
- Hands-on experience setting up and operating photography lighting equipment and portable studio setups.
- Proficiency in Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop for photo editing, colour correction, and retouching.
- Ability to travel independently between multiple daycare locations and event venues.
- Valid driver's licence and access to a reliable personal vehicle. Reliable transportation is mandatory.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact comfortably with children of various ages.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong eye for composition, lighting, and image quality.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage high volumes of photographs and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the photography process from setup through final delivery.
- A photography portfolio is mandatory. Applicants must submit a portfolio showcasing their photography skills, including examples of portrait and/or event photography.
