Job Summary

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and integrating engineering and technical deliverables and operations into all aspects of the corporate activities. This role oversees day-to-day engineering activities from concept refinement through detailed design and into production support.

Working closely with internal Client Relations, Design, Production & Operations, and Project Management teams, as well as with external design and naval architect partners, the Engineering Manager ensures that engineering packages are accurate, complete, and delivered on schedule to support efficient vessel construction. This is a hands-on, visible and personal leadership role with involvement across marine systems, structural components, and outfitting.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Team Leadership (Execution-Focused)

  • Lead and support the internal engineering team in day-to-day project execution
  • Provide guidance, technical direction, and mentorship to ensure high-quality deliverables
  • Establish taskings/workload, priorities, and monitor/validate internal and external team delivery of engineering packages thru phase of construction
  • Liaise with external engineering consultants and subcontractors as required

Engineering & Design Delivery

  • Oversee the creation, review, and issuance of design, engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Align Engineering processes across internal and external contributors to meet project-specific requirements
  • Ensure engineering deliverables are accurate, coordinated, and released in alignment with production schedules
  • Maintain drawing revisions and ensure proper version control across active builds
  • Interpret and implement designs provided by naval architects from concept through detailed design

Marine Systems & Technical Design

  • Oversee development and modification of marine systems schematics (electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and auxiliary systems)
  • Ensure accurate bills of materials, equipment lists, and system specifications are produced
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of technical and system-related issues during construction

Production Support

  • Provide direct, hands-on engineering support to Production teams during vessel construction
  • Resolve design conflicts, field issues, and constructability challenges in a timely manner
  • Ensure engineering intent is clearly communicated and properly executed on the shop floor

Project Support

  • Work closely with Project Managers to align engineering deliverables with project timelines and milestones
  • Support coordination between Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain to maintain workflow
  • Assist Purchasing by providing technical input, specifications, and bill of materials for procurement

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure engineering work meets applicable regulatory standards, classification rules, and client requirements
  • Support inspections, testing, and commissioning activities as required
  • Assist in verifying that installations align with engineering specifications

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture, or a closely related field; preferred: Master’s degree in Engineering or Naval Architecture
  • 10+ years experience in yacht construction or marine industry
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain engineering plans, drawings, and schematics.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products and ideally some level of awareness and functionality with the following: AutoCAD, Rhino, PM software (Wrike, Project, etc), Google Sheets, Quickbooks) and general computer use.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities with experience guiding multidisciplinary teams with quantifiable experience leading teams of 5 or more direct reports
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Innovative, solution-oriented, and skilled at overcoming unique project challenges.
  • Provide guidance, technical direction, and mentorship to ensure high-quality deliverables
