Northern Equity Partners is seeking an experienced and proactive HR & Operations Manager to lead human resources, payroll, compliance, and corporate office operations across our growing group of companies.

Based in our corporate head office in Burnaby, this highly autonomous role serves as the primary resource for human resources, payroll administration, benefits, recruitment support, compliance, and office operations. You will partner closely with leaders across multiple businesses, providing practical HR guidance while ensuring accurate payroll processing, legislative compliance and efficient day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities:

· Serve as the primary HR resource and trusted advisor to managers and employees across multiple operating companies.

· Provide guidance on employee relations matters, performance management, disciplinary actions, workplace accommodations, investigations, and terminations.

· Develop, maintain, and update employee handbooks, manager guides, policies, procedures, and HR documentation.

· Ensure compliance with British Columbia employment legislation, privacy requirements, and HR best practices.

· Manage employee lifecycle activities, including hiring, onboarding, promotions, compensation changes, transfers, leaves of absence, and offboarding.

· Maintain accurate, organized, and confidential employee records.

· Support managers in applying policies and employment practices consistently and effectively.

· Monitor legislative updates and recommend policy or process changes as required.

· Support recruitment activities across the Northern Equity Partners group of companies.

· Collaborate with hiring managers to identify hiring needs and support recruitment efforts.

· Review, screen, and shortlist candidate applications.

· Coordinate interviews.

· Prepare employment offers and related onboarding documentation.

· Maintain and update job descriptions and job postings.

· Support onboarding activities to ensure a positive and consistent employee experience.

· Oversee and process payroll for multiple companies and legal entities within the Northern Equity Partners group.

· Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on schedule.

· Administer employee group benefits, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.

· Prepare and issue Records of Employment (ROEs), T4 slips, and other payroll-related documentation.

· Manage CRA payroll remittances and respond to payroll-related inquiries.

· Administer WorkSafeBC reporting, annual reconciliations, claims administration, and premium remittances.

· Coordinate Employer Health Tax (EHT) reporting and remittances.

· Maintain payroll records and support year-end payroll processes, audits, and reporting.

· Act as the primary liaison with payroll providers, benefit carriers, government agencies, and regulatory bodies.

· Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Northern Equity Partners corporate office.

· Coordinate office supplies, equipment, service providers, and vendor relationships.

· Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and consistency across the organization.

· Coordinate employee engagement initiatives, company events, celebrations, and recognition programs.

· Assist with internal communications and employee-focused initiatives.

Qualifications:

· Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, Payroll, Operations, or a related field.

· Experience in a standalone HR, HR Generalist, HR Manager, Payroll Manager, or similar role.

· Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using ADP Workforce Now or similar HRIS and payroll systems.

· Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

· CPHR designation and/or Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification is considered an asset.

· Strong knowledge of British Columbia employment legislation and HR best practices.

· Demonstrated experience processing payroll and administering employee benefits.

· Experience with WorkSafeBC administration, Employer Health Tax (EHT), ROEs, T4 preparation, payroll compliance, and statutory remittances.

· Experience supporting multiple business entities, divisions, or locations is considered a strong asset.

· Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities independently.

· Excellent interpersonal, communication, conflict-resolution, and relationship-building skills.
