Position Overview

Enter The Role

The position of Purchaser will work cross-functionally with all departments to support purchasing, inventory and production requirements. The primary tasks are facilitating purchasing requests, managing supplier relationships and communicating updates to various stakeholders. The Purchaser will be well-versed in production, inventory, and purchasing procedures and ways to optimize them

The Duties and Responsibilities:

Purchasing and Procurement

  • Review ERP/MRP purchase suggestions, generate, and submit purchase orders
  • Facilitate purchasing and ad hoc requests across various departments, including pricing and lead time questions
  • Communicate supplier shipping and pricing updates to various stakeholders
  • Update and maintain ERP purchasing modules with supplier and pricing information
  • Produce relevant reports as required
  • Solicit quotes and negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery commitments with suppliers
  • Administer purchase terms, blanket and standing orders, and ensure compliance with procurement policy
  • Resolve receiving discrepancies, returns, credits, and invoice/purchase order mismatches with suppliers and Accounts Payable
  • Leverage AI tools to streamline purchasing workflows — drafting supplier correspondence, summarizing and comparing quotes, and analyzing spend and price trends
  • Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes and efficiency

Supplier Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers; support make-vs-buy and alternate-source decisions
  • Expedite open purchase orders and resolve late deliveries, shortages, and supply constraints
  • Conduct vendor assessments and monitor and report supplier performance on cost, quality, and on-time delivery; lead corrective-action follow-up

Cost and Inventory Management

  • Deliver measurable cost savings and cost-avoidance against annual targets
  • Work with production and planning to forecast material requirements and prevent line-down events
  • Maintain inventory parameters — reorder points, min/max levels, and safety stock — and manage excess and obsolete inventory
  • Other duties as required

The Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in business, supply chain, or a related field preferred
  • 3-5 years of direct purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • SCMP, CSCP, or CPIM designation (or working toward one) considered an asset
  • Strong Excel skills, including cost analysis, price comparisons
  • Hands-on experience with an ERP/MRP purchasing module (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Epicor)
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and comfort discussing price, terms, and lead times with suppliers
  • Working knowledge of purchase terms, procurement policy, and basic contract principles
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize competing demands under deadline pressure
  • Excellent communication abilities with an ability to build positive working relationships
  • Experience using AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude) to support procurement analysis, correspondence, and reporting, with sound judgment in reviewing and validating outputs

The Perks:

  • Competitive Salary
  • Benefits package
  • Paid time off
  • Casual dress
  • Employee discount
  • On-site parking
