Summary

The Galley Builder is responsible for the preparation of non-food items. Each flight is prepared differently according to the airline specifications. The time required to build a particular galley depends on the size and type of flight for which it is being used and the availability of supplies.

Responsibilities:

  • Removing trolleys from the wash, after the trolleys have gone through the wash, they are removed in the galley building area.
  • Sliding the trolley to the end of the conveyor belt then pushed off the line onto the ground
  • Removing drawers from the trolley one at a time (stocked items include plastic cups, glassware, napkins, dishware and tea/coffee service).
  • Drawers are stocked according to airline specifications and placed into the trolley
  • The Galley Builder pushes completed flights to the final assembly area

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent communicator (oral and written), who demonstrates sound judgment, tact, and works well in high-pressure situations.
  • Must have skill and ability to understand and read spec.
  • Able to handle multi-tasks and adapt to change.
  • Self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in an environment that encourages and fosters teamwork, participation, creativity, honesty and mutual respect.
  • Knowledge of safe lifting techniques, as regular and repetitive heavy lifting (approx. 50lbs) is required.
  • Ability to work shift work

Environmental Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Will be exposed to extreme temperature changes and noise
  • May work outside in a variety of weather conditions
  • Subject to cold temperatures (ranging from +10 degrees Celsius to at or below 0-degrees Celsius)
  • Subject to hot temperatures
  • Works with chemicals and industrial cleaning materials
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move product, equipment and supplies up to fifty (50) pounds
This is a physically demanding position - Regularly stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during shifts of 8+ hours

Rate of Pay:CA$21.96 per hour
