Job Summary:

About the Role:

As a Cook, you’ll play an important role in supporting the daily dining experience for our residents by preparing fresh, high-quality meals that reflect their tastes and cultural preferences. You’ll work closely with the kitchen team to plan and prepare menus, ensure food safety standards are met, and contribute to a welcoming, home-like environment.

What you will be doing:

  • Prepare food items following established schedules, menus, recipes and quantity quotas; assembling ingredients and equipmetn required for cooking. Reporting and recoding substitutions and productions quantities.
  • Cook and season assigned food and various therapeutic diet items by methods/procedures such as frying , roasing, grilling, steaming, boiling and baking.
  • Test food items for palatability and temperature, adjusting accordingly. Recording all required documentation (temperature logs and meal time logs)
  • Maintains established food rotations in storage in order to minimize spoilage and waste; assigns tasks to designated Food Service Workers as required.
  • Cleans equipment and work area using appropriate cleaning agents to ensure hospital and applicable sanitation standards are met.
  • Participates in creating and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by understanding and following Health and Safety rules, regulations and practices such as fire, disaster, WHMIS, SMART MOVES and Infection Control.
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement activities to enrich and advance various processes through the effective use of available resources.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

What we're looking for:

  • Previous Cooking experience
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to providing quality service in a healthcare setting
  • Graduation from a recognized 12-mnth program in cooking or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Current Food Safe l certificate
