K'awat'si Tourism is looking for a Camp Cook to join our team in Port Hardy, British Columbia. Located on the Northern end of Vancouver Island.

Purpose: To direct and control the Culinary Operations of the camp at an excellent level while maintaining and abiding by all standards, policies and/or procedures set forth by our company and any applicable government agencies.

To maximize long-term profitability through excellent leadership. This includes but is not limited to maintaining high morale within your team and executing/driving excellence in food quality, food preparation, cleanliness and the ongoing skills of your crew and management within the kitchen.

Required Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of experience in kitchen help and housekeeping
  • Previous work experience in camps and/or related areas

Essential Functions

  • Providing leadership, training and ongoing morale for a large culinary crew.
  • Identifying skill and leadership potential in your crew and developing those exceptional individuals into management roles within our company.
  • Full kitchen execution and managing quality assurance during high revenue periods.
  • Inventory and inventory management.
  • Expert scheduling.
  • Managing and submitting periodic weekly and monthly reporting regarding labour cost, food cost, etc.

Job Specific Competencies

  • Dependability: Consistently adheres to operational standards, ensures smooth operations and positive customer experiences, builds a productive workplace, is reliable and improves team morale
  • Independence: Works with little or no supervision
  • Time Management: Manages time effectively when accomplishing tasks, projects, and goals

Pay: $300.00 per day

Experience:

  • cooking: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (preferred)

Work Location: On the road
