Full job description

Dechant Construction Ltd. is looking for a Purchasing Coordinator to join our team, working out of our Edmonton office full time. The ideal candidate will have previous purchasing experience in a similar role, however we are willing to train the right individual for the position. Preference given to candidates who understand and thrive in meeting the challenges of working in a fast paced, deadline driven environment. Candidates must hold a valid class 5 drivers license and be able to meet our drug and alcohol policy requirements.

We would like to fill this position as soon as possible, however we are willing to work with the ideal candidate to accommodate a mutually beneficial time frame.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Reports directly to our Construction Manager
  • Identification of vendors for all materials and services Dechant procures
  • Development of relationships with common service providers to establish set rates
  • Issuance of service agreements to suppliers and subcontractors outlining invoicing terms and progress intervals
  • Management of light vehicle rentals
  • Management of small tools procurement and inventory
  • Review of bid packages for coordination of deliverables
  • Management of telecommunications account
  • Review of project proposals from subcontractors and recommendation of successful vendors to Construction Management Team
  • Develop and manage common materials and small tools inventory in the field

Required Skills

  • Team player
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong technical writing ability
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
