JOB DESCRIPTION

Line Cook

Reports To

Kitchen Manager / Head Chef

Job Purpose

The Line Cook is a crucial part of the Culinary Team at Sagebrush Golf Club. The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food, including soups, salads, entrees, and desserts, according to the Head Chef’s instructions. The Line Cook is also responsible for plating and garnishing food. This role utilizes specialized culinary equipment to process necessary components and to produce final products.

The successful Cook is committed to quality and ensures that as excellent food is prepared, the kitchen adheres to health and safety regulations. The Line Cook will work alongside talented chefs, mastering techniques, perfecting flavors, and keeping up with the fast-moving energy of a busy restaurant.

Duties and Responsibilities

Overall Responsibilities:

● Storing food and ingredients and ensuring they are fresh, labeled and stored according to standards

● Assisting in stocking and preparing kitchen stations

● Preparing food, including weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients according to recipes

● Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and quality standards

● Baking, grilling, or frying meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods

● Boiling and steaming meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods

● Plating and garnishing food for serving

● Keeping work areas, equipment, utensils, and dishes clean

● Assuring that the kitchen's operations and cleanliness adhere to food safety requirements and standards

● Performing additional relevant tasks as assigned by the Head Chef

● Follow all Ranch House policies and procedures

● Work efficiently and effectively in a high paced environment

Qualifications

● Previous kitchen experience preferred but not required—we’re happy to train passionate individuals

● High school diploma or GED

● Completion of an apprenticeship program for cooks or a college or other program in cooking is a plus

● Trade certification is a plus

Working Conditions

● Exposure to very hot temperatures

● May be exposed to safety hazards (e.g. slippery floor, hot oven, sharp objects).

● Working at your feet for most of the day

● May require lifting heavy loads of up to 40 pounds at a time

● May require varied shifts

● Availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays

● Overtime and hours outside of the typical working schedule may be required

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Casual, Seasonal
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: $22.00-$26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24.0 – 40.0 per week
