Osprey Hauling & Hotshot is a Western Canadian flat deck trucking and hot shot company providing safe, reliable and professional transportation solutions throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia.

For over a decade, Osprey has supported customers with a wide range of transportation needs, including specialized equipment delivery, oversized loads, LTL shipments, hot shot services, transloading and storage.

We are currently looking for a reliable and safety-focused Contract Driver to join our team.

The Position

This is a flexible contract driving position averaging approximately 30–50 hours per week. The successful candidate will complete a combination of local Calgary-area deliveries and highway trips throughout Alberta and, as required, Saskatchewan and British Columbia.

Drivers will operate a variety of equipment depending on the load, including 1-ton trucks and semi-trucks.

While some overnight travel is required, trips are generally structured so drivers are away from home for no more than one night at a time.

A Class 1 Driver's Licence is preferred but not required. We are willing to consider experienced, dependable drivers with the appropriate licence and experience to safely operate our smaller equipment.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate company trucks, including 1-ton trucks and semi-trucks, based on licensing and experience
• Complete local and highway deliveries in a safe and timely manner
• Transport equipment, materials, LTL shipments and hot shot loads
• Properly secure loads and verify cargo is safe for transport
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections
• Complete required driver logs, delivery documentation and paperwork
• Follow all applicable transportation, weight, load securement and safety requirements
• Maintain regular communication with dispatch and customers regarding deliveries
• Assist with loading and unloading when required
• Identify and immediately report vehicle, equipment or safety concerns
• Maintain company vehicles and equipment in a clean and professional condition
• Represent Osprey professionally when interacting with customers, suppliers and the public
• Be available for varying schedules based on customer and delivery requirements

Qualifications

• Valid driver's licence appropriate for the equipment being operated
• Class 1 Driver's Licence preferred, but not required
• Previous commercial, hot shot, flat deck or highway driving experience is an asset
• Experience driving 1-ton trucks and trailers is an asset
• Experience operating semi-trucks is a strong asset
• Knowledge of proper load securement practices
• Comfortable driving both in the city and on highways
• Ability to complete occasional overnight trips
• Strong understanding of safe driving practices
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Ability to safely perform the physical requirements associated with securing, loading and unloading freight
• Acceptable driver's abstract
