Full job description

THE CARR GROUP
Independent Contractor – Appliance Home Delivery (Owner Operator)
Edmonton, AB | Tuesday – Saturday | Sundays & Mondays Off

Earnings: $205,000 – $250,000 per year (gross)

BE YOUR OWN BOSS - BUT BE PRESENT, BE ACCOUNTABLE, BE ALL IN

The Carr Group is a national logistics company with 114 years in business. We are an established last-mile appliance home delivery operation in Edmonton, AB and due to continued growth and increased volume, we are adding Owner Operators to our team.

We want to be clear about what we are looking for - and what we are not.

We are not looking for absentee operators. If your plan is to place a driver and helper on a truck from another city or province and manage from a distance, this is not the opportunity for you. We have company trucks for that. What we are looking for is an Owner Operator who is hands-on, day-to-day, personally invested in the success of their truck and their business. Someone who shows up, takes ownership, looks after their crew, and understands that running a successful operation requires active participation - not just a name on a contract.

If that is you, read on.

This is steady, full-time work five days a week. You are home every night. No slowdowns, no shutdowns - as long as you bring the work ethic and capability this role demands.

HOW YOU EARN

  • We pay by the stop
  • Our mandate is to route you 16–20 stops per day
  • Accessorial rates add an additional 5–9% on top of your daily earnings
  • Estimated annual gross earnings of $205,000 – $250,000
  • Direct deposit every two weeks
  • Automatic invoicing and billing handled for you
  • Automatic pre-calls to customers handled for you

You focus on the deliveries. We handle the paperwork.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • 24' or 26' straight box truck (lift gate is a strong asset)
  • Valid driver's licence
  • WCB coverage
  • Commercial vehicle insurance
  • Running authority
  • Your own swamper/helper
  • Physical ability to lift 25–125 lbs
  • Comfortable using basic hand and power tools
  • Appliance delivery experience is a strong asset

WHAT THE ROLE LOOKS LIKE DAY TO DAY

  • Deliver appliances safely and efficiently with zero damage to products or customer property
  • Complete basic appliance installation as required
  • Update handheld PDA device at each stop
  • Provide customers with a professional, top-tier delivery experience
  • Personally manage and oversee your truck and helper on a daily basis
  • Show up consistently - we have work every single day and need people who take that seriously

REFERRAL BONUS

Know another Owner Operator looking for steady work? We pay $1,000 per truck for any referral (Owner Operator, company driver, or helper) that successfully completes onboarding and stays with us for a minimum of 3 months.

WHY THE CARR GROUP

  • 114 years in business - we are not going anywhere
  • Established, high-volume operation throughout Canada with a strong and growing presence in Edmonton and Alberta
  • No slowdowns, no shutdowns
  • Fast, reliable bi-weekly direct deposit
  • We take the admin burden off your plate so you can earn more
  • Don't have your own truck yet? We can help you get into one and start building your business today

The Carr Group is an equal opportunity employer and considers qualified applicants without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, genetic information, national origin, age, disability, medical condition, religion, marital status, veteran status, or any other basis protected by law.

Pay: $18,000.00-$19,500.00 per month
