Position Summary:

ABES College is seeking a dedicated and experienced Casual Practical Nursing Instructor to join our team. This role involves delivering high-quality instruction to students enrolled in the practical nursing program, fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment, and preparing students to excel in their nursing careers. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching, a commitment to student success, and extensive knowledge of nursing practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:

o Deliver course content for theory, lab, and clinical courses, including instructional materials and activities that align with best practice standards and adult learning principles

o Supervise students in clinical settings, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, college policies, and professional standards.

o Provide facilitation and leadership to support students’ success

o Evaluate learners and provide feedback, support remediation and collaborate with leadership to support success

o Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and progress, in compliance with institutional and accreditation standards.

o Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and continuous improvement initiatives.

o Serve as a role model of professionalism and ethics in nursing practice.

Other Duties /Special Projects

· Follows ABES College Policies and Procedures.

· Completes any professional development requirements.

· Other duties as assigned which are deemed necessary to support colleagues in their roles or support the College in achieving its goals and objectives.

Required Qualifications:

o A bachelor’s degree in nursing. A Diploma in Nursing may be considered with relevant experience.

o Current Alberta License (CRNA or CLPNA) without restrictions

o 5 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in a variety of settings (experience in specialized areas (Mat/ Ped, Mental Health etc.) an asset. Acute care experience is must.

o 3-5 years of prior teaching experience in nursing education at a post-secondary institution (clinical instruction with adult learners may be considered).

o Experience with online and simulation-based learning.

o Strong understanding of the role and scope of the Licensed Practical Nurse

Preferred Qualifications:

· Advanced proficiency in simulation-based education and training.

· Certification in Nursing Education or equivalent experience and professional development.

· Familiarity with MS teams and other Learning Management Systems (LMS) and technology.
