Summary

Southpoint Equipment is a business that sells and services farm equipment, light industrial, consumer and turf equipment in the local and regional area. We represent such legendary brands as Kubota, Massey Ferguson, Gleaner, Great Plains and Kress, as well as other shortlines. We are a customer focused business, and require a team member that fits our culture.

The Service Technician performs mechanical repair and maintenance on agriculture, construction, heavy equipment and lawn & garden equipment. Preference is given to licensed techs who understand the AG and Construction market, but apprentice techs that want a rewarding career will be considered. This position reports to the Service Manager. A great compensation plan will be based on experience.

Job Duties

Main Duties

  • Inspect and test equipment, diagnose faults and malfunctions, repair and replace mechanical units, test and adjust units to proper specifications
  • Perform scheduled maintenance service, and advise service administrators on work performed and future repair requirements
  • Install new and add-on equipment
  • Complete accurate and timely reports to record problems and work performed
  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and techniques
  • Other mechanical work as required
  • Keeping product/equipment clean and maintained
  • Roadside and Infield customer service calls

Other Duties

  • Identify problem areas and make suggestions for improvement
  • Assisting Service manager and other Technicians with a variety of duties as needed
  • Maintain and enforce high standards for health and safety across all related areas

  • Experience using hand and diagnostic tools and knowledge of all equipment
  • Self-starter, motivated and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Ability to plan and organize workloads, with flexibility to cope with changing priorities
  • Maintain a strong focus on service delivery
  • Diligence in relation to health, safety, environment and quality
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently as required
  • Strong relationship and interpersonal skills
  • Good organization and attention to detail
  • Punctual and exceptional attendance

Requirements

  • Valid G driver's license with clean abstract
  • Forklift certification and competency assessment
  • Must be prepared to work outside in inclement weather
  • Proficient with computers and record keeping
  • WHIMIS Certification
  • Availability to work Saturdays
  • Safety footwear is mandatory
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs

Working Conditions

  • Shop environment with some work outdoors

Cooperation with other departments

  • The employee is expected to work in collaboration with other teams as necessary.

External relationships

  • The employee represents Southpoint Equipment and as such, is expected to behave respectfully to other employees and company visitors.
  • The employee is subject to the confidentiality agreement signed when you joined the company.
