SBA is currently accepting resumes for a Field Inspector to join our team full-time, in this new position. The successful candidate should be a self-starter and have exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Working at SBA can be a fast-paced environment that requires collaboration and engagement from multiple disciplines throughout project development. However, the successful candidate should also excel when working independently. This role requires travel throughout Northern and Southern Ontario to oversee Municipal and First Nation projects; this may include extended travel of up to multiple weeks in duration and at times in remote locations. SBA provides a hybrid role, on occasion with the opportunity to work-from-home. This position requires travel to client sites and the office as requested.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site field inspection for a variety of projects including but not limited to: water/wastewater treatment facilities, storage and distribution, sewage treatment and collection, road construction, building and bridge construction, etc.
  • Oversee civil infrastructure, structural testing and inspections on-site.
  • Verify accuracy of construction based on design drawings and specifications, as required.
  • Prepare for, attend, and chair on-site meetings with clients and contractors, taking meeting minutes if necessary.
  • Prepare daily and weekly construction reports along with as-built documentation as required.
  • Travelling for extended periods of time (up to multiple weeks) as required by the project, which may include remote locations in Ontario.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • College diploma/degree in field of Civil, Construction or Environmental Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years or more of job-related construction experience in a similar position.
  • Active knowledge of Canadian and Ontario design standards and guidelines.
  • Well versed in Office 365 Programs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be willing to travel throughout Ontario to visit project sites. Travel includes more northern and potentially remote locations.
