** This position is an in-person based position located in Nisku, Alberta (Edmonton, Alberta surrounding area) - Relocation to Edmonton (or surrounding area) required **

Job Summary
Based out of Nisku, Alberta (Edmonton surrounding area) The Director of Project Management is responsible for ensuring all projects remain on schedule and within budget while maintaining high-quality standards. This role involves leading direct customer engagement to manage expectations regarding supply chain, budgetary, and resource constraints.

Additionally, this role oversees shop capacity planning, ensuring efficient scheduling of each project phase while optimizing resource utilization within operational limits. The Manager is also responsible for leading, coaching, and developing the Project Management team to drive customer satisfaction, cost control, quality assurance and profitability.

Key Accountabilities (Included, but not limited to):

Leadership and Team Development

  • Provide strategic leadership, mentorship, and support to the Project Management team.
  • Foster a collaborative and continuous learning culture within the department.
  • Coach and guide individual Project Managers to ensure adherence to best practices and successful project execution.

Process Ownership

  • Develop, implement, and refine project management processes to enhance efficiency, ensuring alignment with industry best practices
  • Utilize technology-driven tools to streamline project workflow, improve resource allocation, and optimize timelines
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate newly implemented processes, identifying opportunities for optimization and adjustment to maximize effectiveness
  • Work cross-functionally with departments, fostering collaboration to drive organization-wide process improvements that enhance overall productivity and project execution
  • Lead and manage the project team, ensuring adherence to established processes while providing guidance and structure to support consistent project delivery
  • Coach, mentor, and guide individual Project Managers, ensuring they fully understand and work within standardized processes
  • Support change management initiatives related to process improvements, ensuring effective adoption across project team
  • Analyze project performance metrics, using data-driven insights to recommend and implement further enhancements to efficiency and effectiveness
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and contractual obligations, integrating client requirements into process frameworks

Project Planning & Execution

  • Own and manage the Master Schedule, ensuring shop capacity and resource optimization.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks throughout all phases.
  • Implement and monitor quality control measures, ensuring corrective actions are taken when needed.
  • Collaborate closely with drafting, engineering, production, and supply chain teams to align objectives.
  • Monitor project budgets, ensuring financial targets are met and profitability is maintained.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to improve efficiency.

Health and Safety

  • Lead by example and promote a culture of safety and environmental protection in the workplace.
  • Ensure all operations personnel adhere to Makloc's health and safety policies

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Required)
  • PMP or Equivalent Project Management certification (Required)
  • Lean Six Sigma Green and/or Black Belt certified considered an asset

Experience & Industry Knowledge:

  • 10+ years of Construction Project Management experience, with 5+ years in a senior leadership capacity
  • Proven ability to manage large, complex projects while maintaining profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Strong understanding of metal building systems and industry standards

Skills & Competencies:

Leadership & Strategy: Experience in team management, development, and process improvement.

  • Business Acumen: Strong decision-making, problem solving, and prioritization abilities
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to engage effectively across teams and client interactions
  • Project Oversight & Execution: Ability to manage multiple projects and ensure financial stability
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Project Management software and ERP systems (Preferred)
