Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Lead carpenter to oversee and coordinate various construction and renovation projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of construction techniques, and proficiency with a wide range of tools and materials. This career designed position leads a dedicated team while working on window and door installations. The Team Lead Carpenter must manage precise and efficient installation of all window and door systems, glass, door hardware, interior trim, aluminum capping, and caulking, as well as concise communication, quality workmanship, ensuring projects are completed with the highest standards of customer service, quality, professionalism, and safety.

The Lead will play a critical role in maintaining safety standards, managing project timelines, and delivering exceptional craftsmanship across multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example and communicate with respect and professionalism.
  • Follow all company polices procedures and related regulation requirements including the building code.
  • Positively promote the Company regarding collaboration and teamwork, accountability, taking responsibility and pride in developing skills, time management, and satisfied customers.
  • Be fit for work, including physically, emotionally, and mentally.
  • Work safe, teach, enforce, and follow the OHSA regulations and manufacturers' handling and installation instructions.
  • Train and supervise other team members ensuring accountability to Company high-level standards of accountability, performance and productivity are maintained, working to zero deficiencies.
  • Develop work plans and priorities for each installation project and coordinate with other trades, as necessary.
  • Function as the primary point of contact between the Installation Manager, Project Manager, Customers (Homeowners and Contract Builders) the installation team and any other resources as required.
  • Ensure accurate measurements, planned requirements are met and workmanship is beyond expectation.
  • Manage the productivity, safety of the team on-site, ensuring adherence to safety standards in a physically demanding environment.
  • Lead by example, promoting flexibility, adaptability, and enthusiasm within the team.
  • Inspect all products and installed materials to ensure they meet MWDC standards of excellence.
  • Stock all necessary materials needed for each project and report any additional materials or equipment required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized worksite, shop and other areas as assigned.
  • Use all equipment and tools properly and ensure they are put back in the proper place after use.
  • Accurately complete logbooks, project updates, reports, and other necessary paperwork daily.
  • Monitor and report any Health and Safety concerns to the installation Manager and the site supervisor.
  • Mentor the team, fostering a culture of professionalism, customer focus, and community engagement.
  • Be flexible and understand that changes will be required to plans and schedules due to weather, inspections, permits, other sub trades and matters beyond the Direct Leaders, clients, and Management.
  • Adhere to all company safety, attendance, behavioral and operational requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Skills, Qualifications and Expectations:

  • Career focused Licensed Carpenter with 5 to 7 years of hands-on trade experience.
  • Exceptional carpentry skills, ranging from framing to fine trim work.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Strong mathematical and measurement skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including lifting, carrying, working overhead, working at heights, bending, walking, standing, reaching, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, lead a team and delegate tasks accordingly.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills to meet demands of the job, and completion timelines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and solid communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven ability in effective problem-solving and conflict resolution.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality control.
  • Able to communicate clearly, professionally, and respectfully with all team members, supervisors, and customers.
  • Excellent communication, supervisory and problem-solving (critical thinking skills.
  • Comfortable with changes i.e.: project readiness, customers, inclement weather.
  • Valid Working at Heights Certificate.

Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
