About the Role:

Neutron Electric is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Estimator to join our team. The Estimator will play a key role in securing new business opportunities by preparing accurate and competitive project estimates, analyzing project requirements, and coordinating with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams.

The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a solid understanding of electrical construction methods, materials, and pricing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze drawings, specifications, and tender documents to determine project requirements.
  • Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for residential, commercial, industrial electrical projects.
  • Perform quantity take-offs and material take-offs from drawings and project specifications.
  • Solicit, review, and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Develop detailed pricing proposals, bid submissions, and tender packages.
  • Identify project risks, opportunities, and value-engineering solutions during the estimating process.
  • Maintain and update costing databases, labour rates, material pricing, and supplier information.
  • Collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, and senior leadership to ensure smooth project handoff following contract award.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs as required.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Assist with contract reviews, change order pricing, and project budgeting when required.
  • Track bid results and analyze estimating performance to support continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all estimates are prepared in accordance with company standards, safety requirements, and client specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of estimating experience in the electrical construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, construction practices, and industry standards.
  • Experience preparing estimates for residential, commercial, industrial projects.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with estimating software and digital take-off tools is considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid G Driver's Licence and reliable transportation.
