Program Instructor I, Animal Programs (Raptor Center)

Your Opportunity

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Deliver informative and entertaining educational programs for organized groups and the public, e.g. Raptor Trail tours, bioartefact interpretation, school program components
  • Interact with guests around the Raptor Centre during seasonal programs
  • Assist with program setup/tear down, general Raptor Centre maintenance
  • Assist with day-to-day operations and customer service including providing general information to visitors and promotion of park initiatives
  • Work in accordance with Conservation Halton’s Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other related manuals.
  • Other duties as assigned

Your Qualifications

  • Knowledge of bird of prey biology and natural history
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong problem solving and time management skills
  • Able to offer flexible availability, including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, on varied terrain.
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSS), to verify the absence of a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted (if over 18 years old). *Cost covered by Conservation Halton up to $30.00.
  • A valid Ontario Drivers Licence, minimum Class “G2”, with a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract is required. *Abstract completed by Conservation Halton.
  • CH parks are not accessible by public transit; candidates should ensure they have reliable transportation.
