Full job description

Complex telecom projects with multiple stakeholders and varying goals can be challenging for anyone. Our experience with Telecom networks gives us a unique perspective, allowing us to manage projects to achieve all goals present in any complex job. The role of Telecommunications Designer will assist Precision Communications Solutions to achieve this by:

· Designing the layout of fibre optic and copper telecom cable networks in coordination with customers, the project manager, and engineering alliance partners.

· Using wireless and pole-line modelling tools to produce reports for indoor and outdoor wireless systems and pole-line pathways modelling tools to produce reports for indoor and outdoor wireless systems.

· Assisting our customers and contractors in the production of working drawings depicting structured cabling, data outlet distribution, fibre splicing, terminating, patching information, radio tower profiles, antenna mount details, equipment grounding details, heat, space, and power calculations.

· Collaborating with our customers and engineering design teams in the creation of project documentation including scopes of work, bills of material, cable schedules, vendor bill packages and project management documentation.

· Working with customer-approved suppliers and equipment vendors to design, procure, and apply appropriate pricing information to projects.

· Designing the layout of floor plans, wall layouts, equipment cabinets, tray layouts, and miscellaneous equipment as they apply to the inside building environment.

· Creating and maintaining customer corporate drawings in accordance with customer drawing standards.

· Assisting in the research, creation, and application of standards relating to telecommunications networks and wireless systems on behalf of the customer.

· Performing duties as required to respond to RFI’s during the construction phase and reviewing as-builds during the close-out phase.

  • Communicating professionally with other members of your team, other employees, supervisors, managers, clients, vendors, and industry specialists.

What we need from you:

· Outside plant experienceon voice & data cable plant services corporately, including fibre, copper outside plant, structured cabling systems and wireless systems.

· 7+ years’ relevant experience in the telecommunications field, wireless systems, or background in communications.

· Registered Communications Distribution Design (RCDD) with OSP specialty and/or Communications preferred.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Engineering Work Packages (EWP) and start up/construction work packages (SWP).

· Extensive experience with corporate computer programs such as MS Office.

· Working knowledge of computer software such as: Pathloss / RF propagation tool.

· Understanding of AutoCAD and MicroStation.

· Excellent organization, communication and document writing skills which contribute to your proven track record in consistently meeting project deadlines.

· The ability to work well in multi-dimensional team settings with the ability to work on multiple projects while simultaneously meeting all project deadlines.

· Valid class 5 driver’s licence.

· Adhere to and enforce all company policies and procedures

· Adhere to and enforce all HSE policies and procedures

· Maintain any professional designation in good standing
