About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Junior Site Supervisor to help oversee day-to-day operations on our active construction sites in the Ottawa area. This is a developing role suited to someone with some field experience who is ready to grow into full site supervision. Working under the direction of the Project Manager, you will support safety, quality, scheduling, and communication between field crews, subcontractors, the owner, and the consultant team.

Key Responsibilities

- Supervise and coordinate on-site construction activities, crews, and subcontractors to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and to specification

- Enforce Health & Safety policies and Ontario OHSA requirements; assist with site orientations, toolbox talks, and safety inspections, and ensure corrective actions are documented

- Implement and monitor Traffic Control measures, including signage, flagging operations, and pedestrian protection in accordance with Ontario Traffic Manual Book 7

- Maintain contract documentation, including daily logs, timesheets, site instructions, and as-built records

- Read and work from construction drawings and specifications; flag discrepancies to the Project Manager for resolution

- Communicate with the owner, consultant, and inspectors on day-to-day site matters; attend site meetings as required

- Monitor and update daily progress reports, including manpower, equipment, materials, weather, and work completed; report schedule risks and delays promptly

- Assist with coordinating material deliveries, equipment, and subcontractor schedules

- Check quality of work against drawings and specifications

Requirements

- 1-2 years of construction field experience (labourer, forming, civil, or similar); prior supervisory experience an asset but not required

- Basic knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health & Safety requirements and safe work practices

- Willingness to take on traffic control duties; Book 7 Traffic Control training an asset (training can be provided)

- Ability to read basic construction drawings and specifications, or willingness to learn

- Good written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interacting with owners, consultants, and inspectors

- Reliable, organized, and able to keep accurate daily records

- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation to job sites

- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)

- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, email)

Preferred Qualifications

- Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent field experience)

- Safety certifications such as Working at Heights, WHMIS, and Supervisor Health & Safety Awareness

- Experience on residential, commercial, or municipal projects in the Ottawa area
