Full job description

Citywide Notes Ltd. is looking for reliable, organized, and detail-oriented individuals to join our team of Note-Takers.

As a Note-Taker, you will attend post-secondary classes and prepare clear, accurate, and well-organized notes for students with disabilities. Your work helps ensure students have equal access to course content and the opportunity to succeed in their studies.

About the Role

This is an in-person position supporting students attending post-secondary institutions in Toronto.

Responsibilities

As a Note-Taker, you will:

  • Attend assigned in-person classes and lectures.
  • Arrive approximately 15 minutes before class to prepare for the lecture.
  • Take accurate, comprehensive notes using your own laptop.
  • Edit, proofread, and format notes after each class to ensure they are clear, concise, and well organized.
  • Submit completed notes to Citywide Notes within the required timelines.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Communicate promptly regarding schedule changes or any concerns related to your assignments.

Qualifications

We're looking for individuals who have:

  • A bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics).
  • A strong understanding of STEM concepts and the ability to follow complex technical lectures.
  • Experience taking comprehensive, well-organized notes in post-secondary STEM courses.
  • Experience in a Canadian post-secondary environment is considered an asset.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including grammar, spelling, editing, and proofreading.
  • The ability to accurately document lectures containing mathematical equations, scientific terminology, formulas, diagrams, and technical concepts.
  • Strong listening skills with the ability to identify and capture key information presented during lectures.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • The ability to organize complex technical information into clear, concise, and well-structured notes.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • The ability to work independently and consistently meet deadlines.
  • A professional, reliable, and dependable work ethic.
  • The ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Technical Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A personal laptop with a minimum 13-inch screen and 3-hour battery life.
  • A minimum typing speed of 70 words per minute.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, including formatting documents, equations, tables, and images.
  • The ability to quickly learn and use discipline-specific terminology and notation.
