Full job description

Microland is hiring an experienced bench technician to repair PC motherboards, laptop motherboards, and graphics cards at the component level.

You'll work from schematics and boardviews to find the actual fault: dead power rails, shorted VRM phases, blown MOSFETs, damaged pads and connectors. Repairs are done with micro-soldering and hot-air rework.

What you'll do

  • Diagnose and repair desktop motherboards, laptop motherboards, and NVIDIA/AMD graphics cards at the component level
  • Fault-find power delivery circuits — VRM phases, VCORE/VMEM rails, standby rails, and SMPS circuits
  • Micro-solder and hot-air rework SMD components: MOSFETs, chokes, capacitors, controller ICs, and fine-pitch connectors
  • Repair lifted pads, damaged traces, PCIe slots, DC jacks, DIMM slots, and display connectors
  • Troubleshoot no-power, no-post, no-display, artifacting, and intermittent faults
  • Handle liquid-damage cases: ultrasonic cleaning, corrosion remediation, repair-viability assessment
  • Stress-test and thermally validate every repair before it ships
  • Document repairs, parts, and labour time in the work order system

What you need

  • 3–5 years of component-level board repair experience (PC motherboards, laptop motherboards, and/or GPUs)
  • Strong SMD micro-soldering and hot-air rework skills
  • Ability to read schematics and boardview files and trace faults from them
  • Solid PC architecture knowledge: ATX power sequencing, PCIe, DDR, VRM topology, POST sequence
  • Confident with a bench power supply, oscilloscope, multimeter, and thermal camera
  • Methodical, detail-oriented, and good at documentation
  • ESD-safe work habits

Nice to have

  • Electronics diploma or trade training
  • BIOS/EC/SPI flashing, GPU VBIOS flashing
  • Console, mobile, or data-recovery board repair background
  • Authorized service centre or high-volume refurbishment experience

What we offer

  • $22–$28/hr based on experience
  • Full-time, permanent, on-site in Markham
  • Well-equipped bench with quality rework and test gear
  • Steady, varied work across current and legacy hardware

Pay: $22.00-$28.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
