ICLD Group partners with Indigenous communities, government agencies, educational institutions, and employers across British Columbia to design and deliver high-quality workforce development, education, and employment training programs.
Our programs focus on building practical skills, increasing employment opportunities, and creating pathways into post-secondary education and sustainable careers.
We are seeking an experienced Carpentry Pathway Facilitator & Curriculum Developer to lead the development and delivery of a new 12-Week Carpentry Pathway Preparation Program.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced educator, instructional designer, or trades professional who enjoys developing curriculum, facilitating adult learning, mentoring students, and helping individuals successfully transition into further education and employment within the skilled trades.
Location: Tentatively - Campbell River, British Columbia or Open to Relocation anywhere on Vancouver Island or Metro Vancouver
Position Summary
Reporting to the Head Office, the successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and continuously improving a comprehensive adult education curriculum while delivering engaging classroom instruction throughout the program.
The facilitator will prepare learners with the academic, practical, technical, and workplace skills necessary to pursue careers in construction and successfully transition into post-secondary trades training.
This role requires a combination of instructional design, classroom facilitation, learner engagement, project coordination, assessment, and continuous program improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Development
- Design and develop a comprehensive curriculum for a 12-week Carpentry Pathway Preparation Program.
- Create detailed lesson plans, facilitator guides, learner manuals, presentations, activities, and instructional resources.
- Develop learner assessments, quizzes, assignments, practical exercises, and evaluation tools.
- Ensure curriculum aligns with adult learning principles, workforce development objectives, and industry best practices.
- Incorporate workplace readiness, construction fundamentals, safety awareness, and employability skills throughout the program.
- Continuously review and improve curriculum based on learner feedback and program outcomes.
Program Delivery
- Deliver engaging classroom instruction using a variety of adult education methodologies.
- Facilitate discussions, demonstrations, workshops, and collaborative learning activities.
- Deliver instruction in areas including:
- Workplace communication
- Study skills
- Conflict resolution
- Trade mathematics
- Metric and imperial measurement
- Geometry and calculations

Learner Engagement & Student Success
- Foster a respectful, inclusive, culturally safe, and psychologically safe learning environment.
- Build positive relationships with learners from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds.
- Motivate learners and encourage participation throughout the program.
- Monitor attendance, engagement, and academic progress.
- Identify learners requiring additional support and implement appropriate interventions.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and individualized feedback.
Practical Learning
- Coordinate hands-on learning opportunities and practical activities.
- Integrate demonstrations, measuring exercises, blueprint interpretation, and construction-related projects into classroom learning.
- Coordinate guest speakers, employer presentations, industry visits, and experiential learning opportunities where appropriate.
- Prepare learners for safe participation in practical activities.
Assessment & Evaluation
- Develop and administer learner assessments.
- Evaluate learner knowledge, practical skills, and workplace readiness.
- Maintain accurate learner records and progress documentation.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to support learner success.
- Monitor program outcomes and recommend continuous improvements.
Program Administration
- Maintain attendance records and learner documentation.
- Prepare required reports and program updates.
- Participate in staff meetings and planning sessions.
- Collaborate with internal staff and external partners.
- Ensure program quality and compliance with organizational standards.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience developing curriculum for adult learners, workforce development programs, post-secondary education, or skilled trades training.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience facilitating adult education or workforce development programs.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in carpentry, construction, or the skilled trades.
- Red Seal Carpenter, Journeyperson, or equivalent industry experience.
- Provincial Instructor Diploma (PIDP), Adult Education Certificate, Bachelor of Education, or equivalent instructional credential.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities or delivering Indigenous community-based education programs.
- WHMIS certification.
- Occupational First Aid certification.
- Experience coordinating experiential learning and employer engagement activities.
- Knowledge of apprenticeship systems and post-secondary trades education pathways in British Columbia.
