The Organization

Operating as a non-profit society since 1977, Etana provides support services to adults with developmental disabilities. We work with individuals in the city of Red Deer and area, with our office located in Red Deer. Etana continues to grow with respect to the number of individuals supported and personnel and are adaptive with our services to meet the needs of each individual.

The Job

The Supervisor of Individualized Supports is directly accountable to the Program Manager. You will supervise staff working with individuals who reside in their own homes and require support with independent living skills, accessing the community and community services. In addition to supervising staff you will also be required to provide direct support as well.

Must be able to maintain strong boundaries, possess excellent communication and negotiation skills and have experience with complex behavior. You should be skilled in employing de-escalation strategies, redirection and have good problem-solving abilities.

Experience with caseload management and good time management are essential. Reliable vehicle is necessary.

This position requires working Monday thru Friday 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM. There may be some variation in this schedule required from time to time as dictated by the organization and individuals needs.

Using a strong leadership acumen, the Supervisor is dedicated to supporting the individuals and leading a team of support workers to implement positive interventions and intensive supports in order to facilitate optimal outcomes for the individuals with varying support needs.

In this role, you will utilize your highly developed intervention and leadership skills to provide support for the development and implementation of intervention plans that will facilitate the optimal functioning of individuals with varying support needs, and will train and assist staff to optimize these skills. The successful candidate will provide support to individuals and their teams through advocacy, skill training, and community education.

This position ensures that the supervision, training and personal support provided meets the individual’s needs. With exceptional communication skills, you are also responsible for liaising with government departments, family and other related community support agencies, ensuring that services provided are of the maximum possible benefit to the individual and that services are operated in accordance with standards as set down by Etana, Disability Services and CARF Accreditation Standards.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree or diploma in a human services field (preferred)
  • High School Diploma or Mature Status
  • 1 year supervisory experience
  • 3 years experience working in human services including developmental disabilities, dual diagnosis/mental health, complex needs, addictions
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Valid Emergency First Aid & CPR Certificate or better.
  • Class 5 drivers license and reliable vehicle
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector check less than 6 months old.

  • Medication Administration
  • Abuse Protocol / Protection of Persons in Care Act
  • Supporting Individuals through Valued Attachments (SIVA) every 2 years
  • Leadership & Advisory Council – Rights, Roles & Responsibilities
  • Food Safe
  • Maintain skills in computing and communication technology as chosen and utilized by Etana
